I walked up to the top of Sitnyakavo with Gerry a few days ago. All I can say is "if you like Borovets, then you are going love Borovets " looking forward to January and making use of the investment made. With my luck, probably I will crash into a snow cannon, so many to choose from.

re:SNOW CANNON UPDATE - BOROVETS - 2ND SEPT
We went walking yesterday, up the Musala pathway to the top of the gondola and then down the Yastrebets slopes.
After leaving the gondola station and heading down we found that Haramia is being widened and graded, it will be quite a wide slope now.

From the bottom of Yastrebets 1, by the pumping station that fills the reservoir for the snow cannons, the path back to the Gondola bottom station now has snow cannons installed and is a bit wider. It means that it will now always be possible to ski back from the Yastrebets chair into the center of Borovets and not use the bus. OK, with the proviso that it is cold enough to run the cannons, but in the winter it is mostly below freezing at night. What with the work also on Sitnyakavo you have to say Borosport are making a big effort.

Hi Fraser, trouble with Sod is you never know which way he will go.

Hi Fraser, trouble with Sod is you never know which way he will go.
But Borosport have done a lot of good work this summer and it will be a big improvement. I was walking there today and they are putting up the pylons for the new lights, the night skiing is going to be really good. There will be all the Martinovi slopes for experienced skiers, 4 is now with lights and cannons and Martinovi 1 goes to the top of the Red Flag slopes with lights and cannons. The big difference this year, and I think it will be very popular, is that there is now an easy way down Martinovi Baraki 1 and then drop back onto the pathway to Rotata, so less experienced skiers will be able to ski at night.
During the day it will also be a lot better on the Sitnyakovo side with cannons on the baby slope from the top of the Sitnyakovo chair, also down Sitnyakovo 3 and on the pathway back to the top of the Rila 4 man chair. From the way the pipes are being laid it looks as though it is designed to cover the whole area in the future and there has been loads of work levelling and grading the slopes,
Last week I was walking on the Yasatrebets slopes and Haramia is being widened and levelled, I have heard that next season Borosport will install snow cannons from the top of the gondola down Haramia and Yastrebets 1, so this may be the first step.
I am really looking forward to the coming season.
