Hi all,
being a novice skier I just needed to ask this question....
my ski boots that I was given to wear in pamps last season were absolute murder, if I bought my own "comftable" boots would they fit onto ski's that you get given at the resort or do you have to buy your own ski's to go with your own ski boots ?? appologies to vast ranks of pro skiers on this site for what might seem a silly question !!
buy the boots fit them proper wear them for 1-2 hours few time walking before your holiday in you house to adapt them and no worries
-in the ski hire place they will give you the correct lenght skis, adjust the bindings and off you go.
No need to buy skis
Cheers.....seems quite simple
next question...can you recommend a good comftable and reasonably priced boot for a novice, Im only looking to ski once a year so they would'nt need to be of olyimpic team standard, again thanks in advance....
Buy in the resort. Not only are they cheaper but they will ensure all fitting are correct and if you do have any problems with them, then the shop you bought them from is close by.
I would strongly recommend Lange boots. Had mine 9 years now and they are as comfortable as slippers.
Several shops in Pamporovo that will look after you.
superb.......
is the place where you collect your ski's in the mornings a ski sales place too ? makes perfect sence to buy them out there and get the pro-help that I need at the same time !!
Pete, What's the price diff between UK and Pamps? Looking to buy the wife a pair for xmas and (she has funny shaped feet) has mentioned going to Ellis Brigham where they heat mould the inner to your foot. Is it possible to get this done in Pamps?
Not ever seen that Stevie D but it wouldn't surprize me if they did. (not much help was it.)
Prices have gone up over the past few years but like for like I would say buying the same boots in Bulgaria would be approx. 30% cheaper than the UK. I 'm sure someone will respond now saying they bought theirs from Joe Bloggs in whereverland for a tenner - but boots are the most important part of your gear. Get the wrong ones and your holiday could be ruined. Take time to choose, and style should ...

If her feet arer particularly odd shaped then it may well be worth paying the extra to get them custom made.
If you have strange shaped feet, simply heating the inner probably won't be enough. I've suffered for years but last year went to a boot fitter in the States who melted the outer hard shell of the boot to the various curious abnormalities and now have a fantastic pair. You cannot get this done in Bulgaria, so whilst it might be a bit more expensive, you will get a better range of boots and more advanced service & advice in the UK. Of course, if its price and you know what you're after, BG ...

Have to disagree Mat,
I saw Pete in Interski under the Markony, Pamporovo custom fitting someones boots. He was using hot air guns, hydraulic shapers etc.
I didn't catch the price, but I bet it was cheaper than UK.
OK, I haven't seen it. But if he can also suitably advise and has a range of boots available (many stores seem to be tied to one supplier) then this is indeed good news.
