Sadly Cancelled

Was due to go to Pamporovo on the 1st of March but have cancelled. With all the reports of costs going up and reports of taxis charging 15 to 25 lev for a very short taxi ride (nearly £6-£10 ). up until last year we budgeted about £600 spending money for two, this year I suspect it would be nearer £1000.00 Another factor was sitting with little to do if snow conditions are poor. We looked at an alternative ski holiday but the costs were to high so we opted for a week all inclusive in Fuerteventura £700 for 2. I hope for the sake of those still going you get a great dump of snow and have a great time. Would I book again probably not until I see major signs of improvement, I realise prices have to go up but if they do you expect the service to go with it, and if someone with any influence reads this I would seriously consider speaking to the decision makers to sort the taxi situation out for anyone staying outside pamporovo these costs could add £100 and upwards out of your weeks spending money.

re: Sadly Cancelled

Monty you've obviously taken on board the scaremongering. Five of us just back, not the shy retiring type, and didn't pass the £300 mark each. We were SC so had to eat out or buy in all the time to. Only used a taxi once to the slopes when we missed the bus haggled him down from 25 to 20 for four of us £2.50 each. I do agree there is a rip off element here and there but like everything else in life if you shop around you'll find the deals. We had a ball as ever and will be going back.

re: Sadly Cancelled

I agree it pays to shop around but everything considered weather, expenses etc I opted out of Pamps. Also Aer Lingus lets you exchange your flight dates and destination so for 70 euro extra I booked a week in Dubrovnik for September Very Happy. I will be interested to see if the points taken by Galina and Pete on the survey have any effect as I really hope the resort gets things turned around and soon.

Spent week in Borovets. 3 of us half board still managed to spend £600 including tips lunch etc. Not excessive night life. But to be honest hols are luxuries and etc etc.
A week all inclusive to the sun for £700 get in there while it is available.

Stay in the centre of the resort and don't use taxis!
I went france last year family of 4 self catering and spent nowhere near £600.

Monty has obviously monitored the boards, which is what they are for (to help people make an informed decision).

He has monitored the snow conditions... sensible move. Monitored the levels of service ... why would you do anything else?

Looked at value for money and decided he wasn't going to get it.

I'm grateful he posted, because it strengthens the case of those going to the powers that be with the wake-up call.

What's wrong with cancelling on the basis of other people's comments, if you've weighed up all the arguments. And there's absolutely no need to call him a fool. Doesn't strike me as one.
