Scam going in in Borovets

For anyone going to Borovets. Be carefull I went there myself last week. And a couple travelling on the same airport flight nearly missed there flight due to a scam.

To do with your ski's. They people looking after the equipment come up with that you have lost your ski's and will end up having to pay. In reality this isnt true. They just do this to gain money.

If you do not pay. The police get involved. And it may be a long process with your rep and the police. Luckly this couple ...

re: Scam going in in Borovets

We go to Borovits in a couple of weeks, for the first time we are taking our own skis & boots rather than hiring them, we are staying at the Samokov. Where will we store our equipment, at the hotel or at the hire place? I assume not in our hotel room as the floor would get too wet!

re: Scam going in in Borovets

I'm sure this was an isolated incident rather than a 'scam' as you put it. Maybe the skis were not returned to the correct position, as believe me it's very easy to do.

Each year many skis are stolen, so you can't blame them for checking if a pair are mislaid.

Yes, I always look on the bright side, because I have been there so many times and know that these people are not there to offend or upset you.

re: Scam going in in Borovets

well i had an incident last year where after bringing back my ski's from a day on the slopes my boots couldnt be found............. a massive panick ensued by the lads in the ski depot, they were all running around for ages.......they had just been put in the wrong place but they couldn't apologise enough, so its easily done and with the amount of skis in and out i would say it was a minor misplacement
