re: Single Father And Daughter: Advice Needed

Hi Ben

We go to Borovets every year with the kids and they love every minute. I have two boys aged 13 & 5, we are also taking my sisters girls this year, they are 6 & 10.

We fly out Boxing Day.

All in all I would say Pamporovo, provided the snow is there. Stay in the Snezhanka if you can as it is at the start of the bus run to the slopes. Smaller resort and easy to meet up with your daughter. If you are not bothered about a big social scene you should also consider Chepelare. A compact resort ideal for children just 7km from Pamporovo and with excellent snow canon cover.

We seem to be voting here, so I put my vote for Borovets: it's close to Sofia airport, amazing atmosphere, even for non-skiers and we had a terrific time there last year with my 4-year old daughter. She skied for an hour or two in the mornings, sledged and bumboarded a lot, then dinner - all restaurants are very child-friendly, and then swam or just walked around in the evenings and she hasn't stopped talking about it all year so we're booking there again now.

I ski Bansko but think Borovets would be better suited to your needs. You are at high altitude than bansko village and the slopes outside rilla are illuminated at night. This means you can go sledging in the evening. Also the transfer to Borovets from Sofia is pretty quick.
