No it was not a first time package lol The first time package was a learn to ski which was £150. We took out a full ski pack for £160 which was skis boots lift passes and equipment. Look at balkan holidays!!!! I am not daft you know lol
Jez back to you. Quidco atm are giving 10% off Thomas Cook hols and then 3% cashback on their prices, and neilson is Thomas cook, so for a £100 holiday you'd get £100 off and then a further £27 cashback through quidco
Funny how all these people who"have a go" "You got the wrong pack" "You need to have your ability assessed first" blah blah blah, go all quiet when you put them straight!
*Rolls eyes*
Hi Skatergirl, I've followed your posts with great interest and had great sympathy with you and your family when you first posted. You saved all year for your one holiday, you were worried sick re: snow/ conditions etc. I think everyone on this forum were hoping that you would have a great week. Sadly this wasn't the case, however it's become clear to me ( and only my personal opinion based of your posts , no offence! Lol ) that nothing was ever going to be a) good enough, b,cheap enough or ...

Ski, social, friends ( new and old). Maybe that's where we're so different. So sorry you didnt have a great time, although I think you are in the minority of people going to Bulgaria!

I sympathise with you regarding your disaster regarding your ski lessons with yourself and children-there are so many aspects to consider when choosing a ski holiday and I was taught to ski very well many years ago in Borovets by very conscientious instructors-the insistance on technique has stood me in good stead as I am still sking many years later. These days I try to add up the factors that are important to me-the sking comes at the top-unfortunately although Bulgaria is cheap initially I ...

The down side was that the grandchildren had to ski with Granny instead of going to ski school to save money(and had to have a packed lunch ) The up side was we went to different places each day and skied our buts off.The apres ski drinking no longer attracts me but still enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. What we missed was the atmesphere and hospitality that you find in Borovets. I am taking grandchildren to Borovets at half term when it will be a completely different holiday and we will enjoy that as well.I always feel as though I am going to my second home.I do think that you were incredibly unlucky with your instruction and maybe Bulgaria is not for you-I find that it is a bit like Marmite-you either love or hate it.
Guys, I wasn't meaning ANY of you!! It was the people having a go at me saying that we had booked the learn to ski package when we hadn't and that the instructor was "assessing our abilities" when he wasn't!
I have thanked you Queenie on several threads which you obv have not read.
Plus you're very wrong with your assumption that I was determined not to enjoy it. I'd never have gone if that was the case.
On the contrary, we always say a holiday is what YOU make it!

We always give marks on the way home and overall we gave the holiday between 7 and 8 out of ten between us.
I was ill so that obv did spoil it for me, but that's not Bulgaria's fault.
It was the penny pinching misery guts people in the hotel, the balkan reps which were not very good and the awful ski school which wasted 2 whole precious mornings of my kids skiing time and upset them with their comments.
It isn't my one holiday btw. We also go abroad in sept/oct and we do several Pontins breaks a year though we get them for peanuts as I know the staff well. Again, we make the most of it and have great fun. I have written several reviews on Trip Advisor and if you were to read them you would see that we ALWAYS make the most our holidays.
However I actually felt like going home on day 2 because of the ski instr and the hotel staff.
We did turn it around in the end and the kids had a great ski for the last 4 days. probably did more skiing than anyone else if I am honest as they were out first thing, on the very last lift and only stopped for lunch for 10 minutes. Plus there was no stopping and starting as in lessons. So overall, the most was made of it. It just wasn't the sort of place that we say "oh I loved that" to.
I repeat, this post wasn't intended for any of you, it was the people who made false allegations and then when put straight weremn't big enough to apologise!
Again, thanks Queenie for all your help. And it looks as if we actually had a very good week snow wise.
A bit after the event but for anybody else in doubt, if you or any member of your party is not happy with their instructor, change them. Just tell the school you are not happy and they will generally find a way to accommodate. If you try to do this through the instructor, they may not be so helpful as it is possible that they see their tip reducing and/or possibly even a telling off. My wife doesn't like to be shouted at and out of the 3 times that she has been skiing (3 different schools) ...

My wife doesn't like to be shouted at and out of the 3 times that she has been skiing (3 different schools) in Boro we have changed her instructor 4 times. Last season my sons were clearly in a class beneath their abilities, I asked for them to be moved up and they were, against their instructors wishes.
