Ski's, Boots, Lift Pass

If anyone can help....

I'm about to pay for my lift pass, boots and ski hire today... I'm curious to see if anyone knows how much it will be if I hire it out the in borovets. I've been quoted £85 - Lift Pass £40 Ski's £20 Boot Hire (skis and boots could be the other way round) but either way it all comes to £150. Any oneone know whether it is likely to be more expensive or cheaper if I hire it in Borovets when i get there??? I go this Sat Very Happy Smile Sad

Who are you booking your stuff with? If your tour operator is Balkan, they will do a full ski pack (boots, skis, lift pass AND ski school) for £117.

Where are you marcos. Remember if you are in the UK (I'm sure it'd be the same for many countries) you have to pay extra to take your skis on the plane. Sounds like an OK deal on the lift pass but I'd consider hiring the kit in resort.

Lift passes are definately more expensive if bought in BG, get them in advance from your tour operator.

Ski carriage on the plane is ~£17 return for upto 32kg of pre-booked out-size luggage.

The quote I got for skis and boots was from Airtours and thats them hiring from the resort so does the skis and boot price not sound that great?... not sure If i'd be able to get my stuff from where balkan get theirs from, is it directly from the resort?

£85 for lift pass is about average is it?

re: Ski's, Boots, Lift Pass

beware skis and boots are a very personal thing the resort will fob you off with anything don't accept second best.
Its far better to take your own boots and skis or hire in GB
you may pay more but crippled feet is a no no when skiing. plus there is no language barrier when complaining good luck

Re: Balkan - you pay the tour operator, but collect your stuff in resort on the first morning after you arrive. You keep your ski pass for the week (you pay a very small deposit for this, which you get back when you return it at end of week). You return your boots and skis to the centre at the end of each day and pick them up the following morning.

re: Ski's, Boots, Lift Pass

We found the hire people in resort very helpful. We did take our own boots last year, but a couple in our group were able to try different hire boots till they found a pair that fitted comfortably. The guy in the centre adjusted the ski bindings to fit our boots and they were absolutely fine. If you look on ebay, you might pick up a good pair of boots at a reasonable price - my hubby got a super pair for £55 (only been used 1 week).
