They are almost as dangerous as the seat back trays being down while landing, we pack ours boots in a holdall as first year we went to Bulgaria after queuing to check in, Balkans made us join another queue to check our boots in Confused

Wear them, it saves on weight and space! You look a bit daft but what the hell.

I normally put them in our main cases and weigh the cases to ensure they are within limits. As long as you are not planning to be a fashion victim (Bulgaria is very casual) you can get enough clothes for a week and your boots easily within the limit.

The problem I have with putting my boots in my case is the risk of losing them or getting them late. I have funny shaped boots to match my funny shaped feet...regular shaped hire boots would be far too painful.

My boots stay with me for the whole journey I'm afraid.

re: Ski boots in the overhead locker?

I have taken mine on board as hand luggage with Balkan, i dont think it is the airline but the ground crew that make the decisions, so if the airport is strict then they will have to go in the hold, humberside have been quite relaxed, but havint to travel from Manchester so putting them in my suitcase, it is probably worth prebooking the carriage as it would probably be cheaper.
