pack in your main lug, it does seem they are cracking down, max two hold bags which include your skis, as above I have heard they class skis boots as dangerous weapons dont think they would be first choice of weapon though for a hi jacker

Does anyone know what you get charged for boots if you check them in once at the airport? I'm not sure whether to pay their prebook charge, or risk it and see if the total family limit lets us get away with it......

I allways have my main suitcase and my ski boot bag with my boots in. i check them both in together never ever been charged any extra, so do that then you dont have to carry them around and you can have hand luggage too.

We flew with Whizz Air last year and all took our ski boots as hand luggage but they killed us on the way home for skis and excess baggage whereas Luton were cool. We're going BA this year as we can't be doing with the unallocated seats and the pushing and shoving!

We flew with Balkan last year from East Midlands and they wouldn't allow ski boots (in boot bags) as cabin bagage. We checked them into the hold with our other luggage. Problem is, it's another extra bag to wait for at the other end! This year, we packed them in our holdalls and packed our other stuff round them

Balkan last year - packed boots in cases
BA this year - went in hold free, said only to contain boots BUT we also had in ours
6 jackets
6 pairs socks
2 large bottles of calpol
6 pairs knickers
4 bottles of shower gel

all for orphanage and we wern't challenged!
