re: Ski or Snowboard?

I have been skiing three times and I initially found it hard to pick up skiing, it takes about two to three days in my experience, but that depends on balance!

I managed to pick up the bare basics of boarding in about three hours, to the point where i could stand up and go down the hill and stop, without falling on my bum. But i am very short and have therefore a good center of gravity for balance on a board.

my opinion is that if your balance is not good, then you are going to find boarding harder at first. You should seriously learn how to fall properly, it is oh so easy to break a wrist or hurt you bum badly boarding.

If you are tall it is so much easier to get along with skis as you can move your feet more, but as everyone has said to become a good skier is very hard!

Boarding is fun, but i find skiing more rewarding in the long term. I just feel like i have more control!

Hope that you can make a decision and sorry for waffling.

Snow snow please please snow!!!!

re: Ski or Snowboard?

One of my sons has only ever boarded and has no interest in skiing at all. The other has learnt to do both and is a good intermediate at both, and while he finds he goes faster downhill on skis, he much prefers boarding because he finds it more fun. Plus it's cooler!

re: Ski or Snowboard?

It's really quite simple.........

If you're a Guy, you Board.

If you're a Girl, you Ski.

Any more questions?

James Bond - Ski's

Postman Pat - Boards

Fact Cool

I off to Bansko with my pal on the 24th, he's on the dark side and has no interest in Skiing. He bust a rib last time. But this time I'll stab him with my poles, thats what there for isn't it? Very Happy

re: Ski or Snowboard?

I learned to ski last year, this year I learned to board. I found boarding quite frustrating as I could only do turns properly on occasion so spent a lot of the time either falling over or going down slowly on an edge which kills your legs. Many of our boarding group really hurt themselves too - wrists, asses and banging heads. There is no doubt ,however, that boarders have a sexier look, and they do know how to throw a mean party!
Big up to Martin the Madman instructor in Pamps!!
