Can only be skiing - well I find it easier anyway.
You'll spend much more time on your butt if you go boarding! Tried boarding for half a day once, didn't get on with it at all - guess thats cos I've skied too many times to want to learn something else....
Well the main difference is in the number of pieces of wood you have strapped to your feet. With skiing you have two, but for snowboarding you have three! One glued to the bottom of your feet and the other two acting a splints for the broken legs you got last time you went boarding.
Skiing is 90% technique, and 10% balance. Whilst snowboarding is 90% balance, and 10% technique. The main technique being how to fall on your bum, how to ...
Sorry, but I just had to answer this one.

Skiing is 90% technique, and 10% balance. Whilst snowboarding is 90% balance, and 10% technique. The main technique being how to fall on your bum, how to fall on your face, how to crash spectacularly into the nearest tree. (or skier if you cant find any trees)
Skiing is easy to learn, but takes years to master. Snowboarders take 30 second to master doing up their boots, then the rest is made up as they go along.
Skiers hone their technique to perfection. They slide majestically down the slope, come to a graceful stop with the flick of their skis, and then glide smoothly to the nearest lift. Snowboarders work on the principle that if you go fast enough, your bound to eventually hit something that will slow you down. You leave impressions of your face in the snow whenever you attempt to stop, then you hop to the nearest lift, arms a’ flappin, like a demented penguin.
Skiers dislike snowboarders, but snowboarders like skiers. They like to fall over in front of them, they like to crash into them, they like to change direction erratically and for no obvious reason, just to annoy them.
So if you want to stay on your feet for most of your holiday, take up skiing.
If you want to ‘think’ you look cool, even though you spend most of the time flat on your back, than take up boarding. I did, and I love every bruise and broken bone I’ve earned.
Top Cat
PS. Also us boarders have a sense of humour…! Not sure about Skiers?
