SkiingExercises

Hi can anyone recommend some ski exercises for my children as went to dry slope for an hour today and they're complaing of aching calves and we go in 4 weeks. We do go evey year but i feel our children probably need to do a few exercises this time.

Thanks in advance Wink

re: SkiingExercises

i was told of an excericse.you need to get in to the skiing position, as if skiing down a slope with knees bent arms out holding your poles and just keep crouching and coming back up but down crouch all the way down you will soon feel it in your thighs

re: SkiingExercises

Go to the Inghams website(they do skiing holidays). They have a Fit to Ski exercise book for about a fiver.
I bought it and then pulled a hamstring at Circus School which hindered my ability to follow the programme - would definately recommend doing the calf muscle strenghening/stability exercises as that was definately were it got me after a full days skiing- would get up in the morning and practically fall over - a hot bath seemed to do trick to get things working gain.

apparently if you lean against a wall and bend your knees so that your in sitting position with your back aginst a wall that works your thighs

re: SkiingExercises

do a few squats
few lunges
walking up and down steep hills good
bit of runnin or cycling
swimmin good for legs
walking up and down steps

stretchin the legs and upper body good before skiin just in case of any falls

rolling the feet ankles knees and hips and lifting legs and heels up and down few times before skiin will loosen everything up and warm up the blood and muscles

if theyre having lessons ask the instructor to give them a good warm up and cool down Smile

get them in the sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool routine when you get back to your Hotel after skiing - me and my kids did it every day along with the outdoor pool- bliss.
