Pray tell what sane adult would smoke next to a pregnant lady or a baby especially if they were highlighted to the fact acd asked nicely if they would refrain.

And then laughing.... That says a huge amount about those specific individuals.

I'd say Bulgaria shouldnt really worry about Greek tourists ... They are broke and would has little to spend in any case. They took all the huge EU investment and then ignored the rules of running a balanced budget... Then they expect ...

There was no vote in the UK for the smoking ban so that's no different to Bulgaria.
Think back to the fldark ages te 1980's when people smoked at the office desk ... I have no issue with people smoking but to force a non smoker to suffer is selfish beyond belief. Criminal innfact. Think about the cases where individuals who have Aids deliberately went out to infect as many people .. Selfish criminal activity.

Anyway. Where does a huge amount of spending come from!???? A family with kids... No family in their right mind is going to go to a smoking venue.

All you have stated are excuses which anyone could use they are not valid reasons why should there be exceptions??? Look at France... A smoking nation beyond belief... They have a smoking ban and it is upheld.

Why is it important? Smoking kills you and passive smoking kills non smokers. The fact is paying for medical treatment FR smoking cancers is a huge burden on the Govt.

Anyway rant over. I'm very anti smoking. Nothing against you this is purely a statement of views/opinions.

re: Smoking policy

I am not condoning nor condemning, i am telling you as it is...
As for France enforcing the ban, check out any Paris cafe ?? or in fact a Brussels cafe (seat of the EU)...
I am not about to start defending individuals who when confronted with a pregnant woman and child refuse to stop smoking, there was a push from the Bulgarian government to curb smoking in public areas just for the reason of protecting the young, which was well accepted, but the simple fact is that most people here smoke ...

I am not about to start defending individuals who when confronted with a pregnant woman and child refuse to stop smoking, there was a push from the Bulgarian government to curb smoking in public areas just for the reason of protecting the young, which was well accepted, but the simple fact is that most people here smoke, and until percentages drop (and im sure they will in time) the situation will not change... Imagine trying to implement a smoking ban in the UK in the 50's...
You will find non-smoking establishments, normally run by non-smoking Bulgarians, they are few but they are there, and im also sure that if they can remain in business, in time they will be joined by others... Personally i choose to smoke, but i will not smoke in our buses, even if conveying smokers who i also do not let smoke in any vehicle, this for the obvious reason of fag ash and seat burns, but also as a service to our non-smoking guests, but we ferry UK visitors almost exclusively and we think it is appreciated by the majority, this would not be acceptable if we were to do the same for Bulgarian/Greek/Serbian/Romanian etc etc.. We bend to provide the best we can for the majority of our clients in order to remain in business, the restaurant/bar in Bansko is doing the same...
