Never been to borovets - Been to Bansko which is ok value and I imagine Borovets is cheaper.....

With skiing doin't run before you can walk the instructors will get you up there quick enough and the lessons are usually really good fun!!

re: Snow Borovets and tips!!

you will find the ski schools hours fly by, you will be having lunch up the mountain and to be honest you cannot miss the hours as a beginner, otherwise next day you may find you are holding your class up because they have progressed more in the time you were not there, think you will find it all falls into place once you are there and you will want to stay with the class for the full duration, beginner school is the best time a real laugh, you only get to be a beginner once so make the most ...

re: Snow Borovets and tips!!

It was my first year last year in ski school and I will be in it again this year. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't want to go to lessons and "do their own thing" as it is so nerveracking and dangerous otherwise.... - my OH is experienced but I won't be seeing him all day because I trust the instructors to teach me, not him! If you've never been before there is no way that you should be out on your own. You will find as gill says that the time just flies by and it is really good fun ...

Borovets prices are pretty cheap - ?1 a pint and many many happy hours! Food about ?10 for a three course meal.

re: Snow Borovets and tips!!

like people have said the ski schools can be fun but to walk before running. I know from experience the first time I went to Borovets my daughter who was 13 got bored with lessons thought she could ski, went off from the group with her mom, ended up breaking her leg at top of the mountain, took me & instructor nearly 2 hrs to find out what had happened. Not good. Beer and food cheap, have hot wine 3 up from ski depot outside rila - lovely, cant wait to go back on 12th Jan for 7th time

Snow Borovets and tips!!

I've been to Borovets for the past FIVE years.

We’ve always gone at the beginning of March and always had good snow, even if it was only at the top last year...

You can view my pictures at http://www.closingtime.co.uk/

As for the Ski School, we find start times are normally 10.00am. We usually skied until lunch then had about an hours break, before setting off again for another couple of hours. Ski school finished sometime between 3.00pm & 4.00pm most days. You ...

As for the Ski School, we find start times are normally 10.00am. We usually skied until lunch then had about an hours break, before setting off again for another couple of hours. Ski school finished sometime between 3.00pm & 4.00pm most days. You were then free to go and ski on your own until the lifts closed.

We also found that the ski instructors were OK if you said you were NOT going to be there, as you were either skiing alone or with other friends, not in your group. I think it’s only good manners to tell them in advance, if you are not going to be there…

All that said, if you have half as good as time as I did you will enjoy it.

Gary
