Up on Mt Mussala i think you would be pretty limited on open spaces as there are lots of low lying trees scattered all over the place. But down in the nearest village of Samokov....10km from Borovets there is a reserve behind us and out past this reserve there is alot of open space without fences......goes for miles.....but you would need a decent snow fall.....which could be quite possible this season.
Maybe someone else on the forum might have an idea on alternative areas on the mountain or other neighbouring villages....Goverdatsi?....Malyovitsa?

re: Snow Kite

Hi Broke,
I like the idea of not having to pay for a day pass!!!
I was looking at kites and found this;
http://www.windwizards.com/snowkiting.html
I was looking for something not too basic but not too advanced to start learning on and thought the Ozone Frenzy FYX 7.5 would be quite a good package....whats your thoughts???.
Can this particular sail be used for water sport aswell?Cheers
Andy

re: Snow Kite

Hi guys
its sooo good to get a reply!!
I will be in Borovets from the 22Dec to 29th staying at the Rila. I have all the gear and im a experienced kitesurfer / snow boarder so im hoping that I will be able to put them together... My gear is LEI (inflatabe kites) which loads a people use for Snow, Although most snowkiters seem to use foils because they're easyer to launch and less breakable. If anyone is about on those dates and up for it I will bring a kite.

Check this!!!

We will also be staying at the Rila for Xmas so I if I spot some chap who manages to get out when the lifts are shut due to wind I'll know its you.
