Snow at Easter

Went to Borovets for christmas last year, thinking of going for Easter 2010, does anyone know what the snow conditions are normally like late March early April, I know nothing is guaranteed but over the past years have it been worth going this late in the season

re: Snow at Easter

Due to the inconcistancy over the last few years, personally I would say booking for Easter is taking a huge risk Confused

re: Snow at Easter

We went week after Easter this year, beg April. Plenty of snow, weather fab. Got very hot, we were sunbathing at the top of mountain and the walkers were just wearing shorts!!!

Skiing good in the morning but got heavy going later in the afternoon.

We booked a couple of weeks before we went so knew snow was there. Would love to go again but would recommend booking last minute.

Hope this helps, Amanda

re: Snow at Easter

Hi Carolyn,

Think PP is mistaken there. Look at the archive photos via the webcams on this site. Easter next year is 2nd April, at the same time last year all three main BG resorts had good snow covering. Pamps probably the best for a change ( which I'm suprised PP didnt point out!! lol)

We were in Bansko early April this year and the conditions were good and the slopes quiet, in fact friends of mine were skiing
there late April.

Weather is always a risk, but not as much a risk as ...

Weather is always a risk, but not as much a risk as PP would have you belive I think,

re: Snow at Easter

Given that the lifts closed in mid-April in bansko this year, I very much doubt that your mates were skiing there at that time. That said, early April is usually OK - but the last couple of years have been rescued by late season dumps. Late march 08 was a disaster until a big dump in early April made it a wonderful end of season. Given the cheap hotel deals that can be made at this time, I'd always advise waiting until the last minute to see where has the best snow.

re: Snow at Easter

Have it your way - but having been to Bulgaria skiing over 20 times I'll stick to my comments that it is still a huge risk to book to go skiing over Easter.

Going to Pamps is always a risk, and you are probably right about that place, but if you read the post she is asking about Borovets, come on sonny wake up!!
