Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Well I will be going in March - the 2nd week of March this year tho have also been the 3rd week. This year will be my 6th visit having gone twice last year - the second visit being on 5 April! and I have never had a bad time.

The first 2 years I went (about 8 March) the snow was amazing. 2nd year we went there was so much snow and risk of avalance that the kindergarten was moved up the hill to Shilligarnika rather than alongside the gondola. You can see my album of pic on skidvd.co.uk.

Following years the snow was a little less but nothing to complain about - masses to ski on. Just more rough patches and no snow in the town for example. Remember though Bansko is different to Boro in that the town is below the main skiing so no snow in town has no relevance to snow on pistes.

Last year I went mid March - had a great time and lots of snow though still nothing compared to the first 2 years there but plenty of it. It snowed when we were there. It then continued to snow (I think this is the norm now for Bansko - a late snow dump - this year will tell) so much so that I then went out for the first week of April. Beaut. Booked independently as ski tour companies stopped by then. Great snow, lovely Spring sunshine and empty slopes!! I am going first week of March this year as mentioned but will keep an eye on the situ and if snow comes late again - will hop on that plane 1st week of April if possible!
