There does seem a lot of snobbery about Bulgaria this year --- so..........
Ones going to try to go skiing next week,
The butler insures me the packings complete,
The Earl Grey is packed and the poodles in care,
My Rolls is in storage and I've tinted my hair.
My ski suit from Harrods is something to see,
My lip salve and sunblock are vital for me,
I've cancelled the papers, the Times is on hold,
And I'm dripping with jewellery of silver and gold,

And I'm dripping with jewellery of silver and gold,
I've been lots of places like Paris and Rome,
But this time I'll venture where bad people roam,
Bulgaria, they say is something to see,
Well I hope a four poster is waiting for me,
And a maid every night just to turn down my bed,
And a lobster for supper with a nice glass of red,
They better take care or I'll post a report,
To say it was dreadful in every resort.
Just packed away my ski boots
Pamps this year was such a hoot
Got on the phone and talked to the man
Asked if I could ski in the snowy Balkans land
Paid the same price as 2008
Which we thought was absolutely great
Can't understand why people moan
Hope they stay away so we have it on our own
I booked a week in Borovets, paid a fair bit
Knew not to expect too much, but not complete pit
Prices gone up, service levels had not
Expecting to be chilly, ended up being too hot
Shopkeepers grumpy, ski instructor worse
So icy & slushy I thought I'd be flown home in a hearse
Got home, checked the forum and to my horror
There are some people who STILL think its fab in BORO!!!!!
You may be bored with people moaning about it but tbh I was bored of being ripped off and treated like dirt whilst on my holiday. Does that make me a bad person?
I've actually been quite positive in another post but I don't suppose you checked that before you jumped in hmm?
Mojo, I've not read your other posts, but can guess you didn't have the best of times - However - Good job on the poem! I know people (Kim - tut tut ) get a bit tired of hearing the bad stuff, but at least you put some thought in, and made it creative!
Errr - Mojo - positive in another report...??? Think you must have a memory prob - here - let me remind you....

I got back yesterday and it was my 4th time in Borovets in 5 years. I was so disappointed. Having little snow is no one's fault. Hiking prices up and not improving the facilities or the services IS their fault. £4 for a chocolate bar at the top of the mountain is ridiculous. I got back yesterday and it was my 4th time in Borovets in 5 years. I was so disappointed. Having little snow is no one's fault. Hiking prices up and not improving the facilities or the services IS their fault. £4 for a chocolate bar at the top of the mountain is ridiculous. Ski instructors that have no regard for your ability despite what you tell them they insist you "follow me" is just unsafe. No training on how to ski or what techniques - just look at you as if you are wasting their time and that tourists are a nuisance. When I went into supermarkets to buy things, price on the item is not what they charge at the till. For example, 20 cigs 3 lev; man at the till charged 5. I said hang on they are 3 lev. He shrugged and tried to usher me out of the shop saying "if you don't like, go other shop". This happened in 3 shops. Walking through the main street of Borovets was a nightmare. They physically block your way, "come in this bar" and if you politely say no they shout abuse or mutter things about you. They are still passing horsemeat off as beef in some places, shortchanging in places and having loved Bulgaria on the whole since 2003, I actually couldn't wait to get home this time. Fraser said you get what you pay for - not the case in my opinion. It's charm used to be that is was a bit tatty and had little money. Now its getting the money and its even more tatty than ever. I'd rather go where the snow, the service and the attitude to tourists is better, and to be honest I wouldn't have to pay a great deal more than I did for Borovets.
