Switch from Boro to Bansko

Hi can anyone let me know if it is worth switching to Bansko, due out on Sat to Borovets. Not sure if Bansko is much better or not?? Thanks

re: Switch from Boro to Bansko

Thanks for the post. I just meant better snow/skiing. Queuing doesn't sound good though. Boro only had 2 reds open today and nursery, not sure if much more snow is predicted for the next week or so. I'm past nursery but not good enough for Reds, so need some blue runs.

Blues 5 and 10 here skiing well, and the top blues are open as well though only served by a t-bar...
Ski-road is complete to the town, and Challin Valog base is good, plenty enough for an improving skier Razz
Will be going up ourselves tomorrow (horray Wink) so will have first hand report, the news to date is from my son who is in resort for the holiday Smile

re: Switch from Boro to Bansko

Hi,

I was in Borovets last week and the conditions were dreadful. We didn't get to ski once! The only good thing is that our local ski school took us to Bansko 3 times where we could ski and it was great. Borovets is a good resort, but just a shame there wasn't any snow!

To beat the queues get 4 people in a taxi from Happy End. They will drop you just above Mid Station at Bla-Bla for around 40-50 Lev. I know you have paid for your lift passes but for the price of a packet of Ciggies each you will save yourself at least an hour queing, and get extra time on the slopes!!!!

re: Switch from Boro to Bansko

Hi all, it is such a shame I was so looking forward to Borovets, ideally situated hotel too right by the lifts, but if no snow and no lifts open etc, then not so ideal hey! I have learnt a lesson in booking ski hols to go later in season (it was my first time booking one though).

Thanks for the tip about the taxi's too, guess Happy end is in Bansko itself or is it Boro?

re: Switch from Boro to Bansko

Happy end in Bansko next to Gondola. Hopefully by next week the gondola ques should have died down. Still a lot here from new years loads of Greeks a Romanians now replaced by Russians as it is the Russian orthadox Xmas on 6th.

I paid 20 lev for a taxi to Chalin valog the other day this is the midway point on mountain. You can avoid ques by getting to gondola by 815. But as I said by next Monday should be much quieter .

Thanks that's great info - cheers. Now to look at what hotels are near the lifts in Bansko and if we can swap resorts.... If anyone has any suggestions to good hotels near the lifts please let me know.

Cheers all
