thats nothing someone when I was in pomp paid 50 lev for a simlar journey. make syre you agree the price firstre: TAXI - COST THE EARTH!!!!

we paid 3 leva for about 2 miles,,,,, but we have a Bulgraian friend,,,, they will rob english blind if they can, and also refuse if they ask for an amount way above what they should, tell them you will get the rep and police involved and just give them what you think and walk off, it has worked for me in the past.... good luck thoughre: TAXI - COST THE EARTH!!!!
Hate to read posting that say "they rob the English blind"as nothing could be further from the truth. I have dozens of Bulgarian friends that I would trust with my life, and to talk like that is an absolute insult to a nation of really friendly people.
Maybe the odd one will overcharge, but try getting a taxi ride in England for what amounts to less than a fiver!!!
Specify if you must, but do not generalise when what you say is totally untrue.

when i was in borovets i got stuck on the mountain it was march and the snow had thawed and we skiied too far a taxi driver picked us up up on the slope covered in mud snow and got knows what put our ski's in the car and dropped us off at the ski hire place and carried our equipment to the door it cost less that £4 i would have given him £40. You shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush most of the taxi drivers are really really fairre: TAXI - COST THE EARTH!!!!

2 years ago I took a taxi back from the Malina to the Mourgavets. Paid the driver 12 levs (10 + 2 tip) and went to my room.
On getting there I realised I'd left my prescription sunglasses (£120 worth) in the taxi, and thought that would be the last I saw of them.
15 minutes later there was a knock on my door and there stood the taxi driver with my glasses. Would not let me give him any money, just asked me to use his taxi for the rest of the week.
Imagine that happening in ...

When I was in Bansko I helped push a taxi out of the snow 'cos I wanted a lift back to the hotel then he got in his car and took me back about 3km and charged me 2.40The next night same trip 2 taxis 8 people one charged 4 and the other 8. When I asked him why it was so much he replied that it was because it was snowing

HiJust like to say. i dont know why everyone complains about rip off taxis. You must understand that thier bussiness is tourists. If some (and by far not all) taxi drivers try to rip of thier clients, this is the same the world over, whether your in london, france, spain, germany and so on. Always agree the fair first, this is common practice in london! I grew up in a seaside tourist area in devon, and its no different there!
