re: TRUE PRICES IN BOROVETS!!!

There are many more pistes than Bansko , Borovets and pamporovo. Most bulgarians ski them. Most have Hisha s , you can eat your own food and drink there. They are cheap to stay in overnight as well. Home made red wine is the normal. I do not know any bulgarians who are going go to Austria to ski.

As I said it's all relative, Bulgaria is not the value for money it once was, this time last year I had already booked the following years Christmas ski trip 2 days after returning from Boro , it was then excellent value for money. Just to state we as a family Ski at least 5 weeks of the year mainly in Poland we are average Joes on average incomes, we also think as a matter of principle we have a duty to the country of our hosts and spread around a little wealth however we dont expect to be ...

re: TRUE PRICES IN BOROVETS!!!

If you visit the rest of bulgaria you will find incredably cheap prices (not coast or ski resort) 1.5lv for a beer, 3lv for a taxi anywhere in cities like plovdiv.
They put the prices up because they can , they think we are all rich, and in comparison we are rich.
Someone made a good point that the ski season is only 3 months long at best.
If you go to tower of london, london eye, etc etc you would expect pay a lot more for food & drink than in your local.

There is no way that most bulgarians can afford skiing. Our hotel recptionist was earning 15E a day! for a 12 hour shift

re: TRUE PRICES IN BOROVETS!!!

Well look at this!!!

I think this puts it all well into perspective!!

Just been having a scratch around on other forums and people posting messages about how expensive it is to eat and drink out especially in France

Bowl of Soup 7-8 Euros

Pizza 9- 14 Euros

Chips 5.50 Euros

Beer 5 - 7 Euros

and remember £1 buys you 1 Euro!!!

Has anyone else been out to the eurozone to confirm this??

Bansko here I come ... me thinks :-)

Rock roland
the Bulgarian skiers go on mass and ski in Austria and the Alps where for a long time, they have found that the prices are cheaper(CHEAPER) that in Bulgaria.IT IS A FACT.
They are not ashamed by the fact, opposite they are proud that they have discovered better value places.
Bulgarians are only doing skiing in BG for a quick fix after work or some weekends when the conditions are perfect.

Dont worry Rock Roland about the Bulgarians-They are laughing when they see or hear Brits on the BG slopes-similar thing like the Spaniards when they see boozy and ugly scenes on they coast resorts.
Christine
BG resorts -cheaper that anywhere else??
Obviously your experience of the Ski World is shall I say very limited. Just laughable really.
Mat
you are correct .
Hope you can jump to the Alps for a real skiing and fix even when stuck in BG.
IOAN
one sudgestion:
why not pack you lunch box, ski with it, melt snow -drink it rather that going down to base walking around like headless chicken doing window shopping and comparing prices just for the sake of saving few levs.

I will give you one advise on here-
READ THE NEGATIVE ENTRIES BEFORE YOU DESIDE TO PAY FOR BG-EXPERIENCE so then you wont feel angry and mislead.

Ian W
PRICES IN EUROPE HAVE NOT INCREASED - JUST THE OPPOSITE
WITH FLEXIBLE TARIFFS AND EXTRAS -like online bookings, ski-as-you-go, free skiingbus, next door ski resort for free and transport for free ACTUALLY THEY ARE LOWER IF NOT THE SAME.
as for food the PRICES ARE THE SAME AS LAST YEAR THE LEAST.

Dave
if you dont know any bulgarians who go in the alps this is because they go in the Alps while you moan about their country and the cheap experience Bulgaria will give you.I mean cheap experience not as bargain but as nothing experience for the money. Very Happy

have fun in BG!
somebody has to use the place if not the locals anymore at least the GB novices until they learn the basics and shift West
