Taking Young Children skiing

Has anyone taken 2 kiddies under 2 ski-ing to Bulgaria recently? what sort of things could they do whilst say 1 parent went skiing and 1 stayed with the bairns?

Depends how 'under 2' they are and which resort you go to I guess.

You can get bumboards and toboggans to take kiddies on. In Boro you can go for a horse and cart ride round the village.

I started with my son when he was 5 and he went to kindergarten for the first couple of years so no experience with skiing away with children so young but sure others on here will offer advice.

re: Taking Young Children skiing

We took our then 18 month year old out to Pamps with us the season before last, He stayed with his Grandparents for most of the day. They stayed in the apartment and wandered around the town. At about 2 ish we meet them and played on the bumboards, sledges and ate chocolate pancakes.
We are going out again on the 23rd with our now 3 1/2 year old and our 11 month old. We will do the same thing again, the kids will stay with their Grandparents for most of the day. This time the 3 year old ...

This time the 3 year old is having some skiing lessons, hes already a wizz on the dry ski slope and the baby will be in the buggy. We had no problems last time taking the buggy onto the snow. The only problem I can see this year is the lack of the white stuff.

re: Taking Young Children skiing

I only have first hand experience of Borovets with young ones.

There is a creche in the Rila Hotel where you can pay for 1/2 or whole day. Last few years has been run by an English grandmother, who has improved things. Swimming pool maybe a little cold for that age but the jacuzzi pool next to it will be warmer. The lobby areas in the Rila and Samokov are large enough for little ones to stretch their legs but drinks are expensive although you don't have to buy to sit there.

We bought a large sit in sledge and pulled them around the resort (Boro), although they didn't have all terrain buggies in my day. Hopefully they will love the snow and want to play in it most of the day.

Hope that helps a little.

re: Taking Young Children skiing

When our children were young they went into Ski Creches where they did lots of fun snow activities. We always skied France though where we felt the child care was at its best. We ski in Bulgaria now that my kids are all old enough to ski. My 3 yr old went into the ski kindergarten in Pamps last year and had a good time - they all get taken up to the large kindergarten by the ice rink at the Mourgavets during the day and the staff were superbe - but I think the minimum age was 4. I'm ashamed ...

We never had the luxury of having grandparents to come and help sadly so you are very lucky.

Yes I guess we are lucky, but we do pay for them to come with us, otherwise we couldnt go.

Missizippi,

What company runs the ski kindergarten in Pamps please?, could be something we could use on some days.

Thanks

That I don't know I'm afriad - its above the main ski hire and ski school building place. I didn't prebook - just wandered in - plenty of spaces (and it was half term)
You possibly may be able to book through this site as I think it is linked with the ski school. I'm sure someone one will advise.

Thanks for your thoughts, I think we may have to hold off till they are 4 or 5...we all have to enjoy ourselves! buggy+Snow+not skiing...maybe not!

re: Taking Young Children skiing

I must admit Larry it is not something I wanted to try. Had skied for a long time before having my boy but never appealed to me travelling on that sort of hols with him so young. We did Euro Disney and that was about it (mind you back then I was broke as anything so skiing was a no no generally). I am alone with him so may be it is different if you are lucky enough to have family to come with you to look after the kiddies then you can ski but otherwise, for the expense and lack of skiing ...

I also liked the idea of my son being old enough to enjoy the experience and us to partake in it together etc. Not knocking anyone that takes babies/toddlers skiing - as I say above - all depends on one's personal circumstances.

Whatever you finally decide - hope you have a good hol.

Last used kindergaten in Pamps about years ago. They use a room at top of ski depot Malina to drop off and pick up. They get a choice of skiing or sledging am and pm. A bus takes them to resort centre for dinner and they used a room above Mourgavets sometimes as well. Balkan and Crystal are the main operators and the age limit seems to vary every year. My little boy has gone from being 3 and enjoyed it loads. Staff can have an abrupt manner but even remember him now and give him a love. ...
