The Dreaded I'M BACK Post

So there we go - all over for another year, but what a week it was!

Snow as good as anything I have seen in 17 years and the skiing was awsome. Just a shame that the snow management team don't have a clue these days on how to keep the runs pisted when so much snow is falling all around them. We had 50cms fall on Wednesday alone and apart from Tuesday which was bright and sunny, I think we had snow every single day.

All runs were open and those that had been pisted were superb. However ...

However on Thursday Angie and I decided to ski the blacks under the 3 man chairlift. They looked fine from the top but as soon as we started out we realised we had made a big mistake. The snow was really soft and about 2 feet deep in places! Completely unpisted and although neither of us fell it was a real struggle to get down in one piece. The back red to the Husky Bar was in tip top condition as were the new blues down to Stoykite.
The Wall remaind unpisted all week so we kept clear of that. (Really disappointing.)

We stayed at the Markony which was simply fantastic. We had a 3 room suite to ourselves which was huge. Food was delicious and everything was so easy we both agreed that we would never stay anywhere else in Pamporovo ever again. 10/10!

Met quite a few people off of here so a big HIGH to all of you, especially Dave and Dee with whom we shared a great night out on Friday. (Sorry if I was a little worse for wear at the end of the night chaps!

Now comes the - OH NO NOT AGAIN BIT!

Those of you who have known me and Angie for a while may remember that we brought a stray dog back from Pamporovo about 8 years ago which cost us about £4,000.

Well, for those who have been to Pamporovo this year, you may have seen a Husky chained up all day every day on the slopes near the mid station.

Nobody else seemed to go near her as there were no snow prints leading to her so we fed her every day and she became a real friend throughout the week. She was so good natured even letting Angie take food out of her mouth to make it easier for her to eat.

On the last day Angie was devistated at the thought of leaving this poor, beautiful dog all alone again and chained up all day and night on the mountain with apparently nobody looking after her. So we currently have friends in Pamporovo trying to track down the owners and we are hoping we can pursuade them to sell her to us so we can bring her back to England and give her a proper home. I'll let you know how we get on as we are expecting an answer on Tuesday. Angie and I agreed that whatever it costs - we will pay it.

Anyway - it back to some kind of normality again - until next year when we will be back in Pamporovo and back in the Markony without a shadow of a doubt! Razz

Why no pisting - frustrating? Were most runs pisted?

re: The Dreaded I'M BACK Post

Very few blacks pisted from the top of the runs - the reason going around was that they would piste them once the snow had stopped - which it never did.

Most other runs were pisted apart from the back blue which was hardly open all week. Usually the most popular run in the resort - but not last week Sad

Hi Pete,
Pleased to hear you had a great time.
Also pleased to hear that you took pity on the poor dog.
I am a dog lover (told waterskikate that if my golden retriever could wash cook and iron she would be history!). I saw a dog whilst in Borovets that was on its last legs and used to go see it most days. Found it quite upsetting on the last day having to leave it behind.
It was a very old Alsatian and it looked like its back end was giving up. Sad
Good luck tracking down the owner and I ...

Good luck tracking down the owner and I hope you manage to get it over to the UK. You both have a heart of gold!.

Hi Helen,

Had a beer with Moey Very Happy
He hasn't changed a bit Wink

Hopefully we will have the dog sorted before you go - but if not I would be really grateful if you could give her a cuddle. She is in front of the hotels that have been half built for years just past Peters Bar.

No worries Pete - I will get Moey to have a look as well. Only problem with that is he is big hearted and will probably end up there all day !!!
Hope you can get her sorted though before I go, a wwek is a long time, tied up and no cuddles, but also I might end up there all day cuddling her !!!
I dont think Moey will ever change - always a kid
Very Happy
