OK - there seems to be a few disgruntled posters who have taken umbridge to the fact that this site (and other sites) collectively raised over £11,500 for charity last season to help the kids of Stoikite Orphanage.
When it all started, nobody (least of all me) had any idea how it would escalate and I do agree that it did take over the board for most of the season. I only got involved in the Ski A Thong through other posters demanding I do something to raise more money, and it was Arron ...

When it all started, nobody (least of all me) had any idea how it would escalate and I do agree that it did take over the board for most of the season. I only got involved in the Ski A Thong through other posters demanding I do something to raise more money, and it was Arron who suggestion doing the Ski A Thong.
Without that, and the support it received from the posters I very much doubt if we could have achieved anything like we did in such a short space of time. Once there, I virtually gave up my whole holiday arranging quiz nights, auction nights, helping with the curryoke night as well as the ski a thong itself. That was a strain on me, my wife and the 8 others I had travelled with and had intended spending the week just skiing with. My choice of course, but the pressure I was under from many people to 'do something Pete' left me little choice other than to see it through to the best conclusion I could.
To criticize those who sacrificed a lot of time, energy and money to achieve what they did is - to me, extremely selfish and unfair. Your board, (and I do mean YOUR BOARD) will always be here for you, 365 days a year, and you should be proud of what it achieved for the first time ever in raising funds for a damm good cause.
That said, I have no intention of repeating it again in 2008/09 or for the foreseeable future, so - no need to go on about it any more.........
it was a job well done that may have inconvienienced one or two for a time, and for that I make no apology whatsoever.
For 2008/09 I do intend to see the board returning to a skiing discussion board together with the light banter that we all enjoy so much.
So lets get back to being nice to each other again rather than finding every reason under the sun to have a dig.
Looking forward to hearing from you all again during the run up to next season.
On the 25 March I responded to a thread about (dare I say it) the Orphanage. Because some people did'nt like or agree with my comments I was verbally attacked and called allsorts by different people, including yourself. When trying to respond and defend myself my posts 'disappeared', after a couple of weeks trying to post I gave up. Obviously whoever was blocking my posts has now lifted it! Very strange.
OK Pete, Thanks and lets get back to the good old times that we used to have on this board, with good banter, a few laughs and discussing skiing/boarding in BG.
