See, just like I said, the facts don't come into it.

Why should other people smoke at the expense of other peoples' kid's health?
Well, because they enjoy it. The risk, even if there is one, which isn't clear, is minuscule. Why should other people drive their cars around accidentally killing 3500 people a year in the UK alone? (many of them kids).

Why should people get on planes to go skiing causing - apparently - some pollution. Why should people be allowed to ski down the mountain behind me, causing me to worry and potentially, maybe , possibly banging into to me? (Hint: we share the mountain - and the risk - and we look after each other)

Why live in a developed industrialised society -which comes with some problems - but we all live longer and healthier? You can keep the mountain pristine of course - just stop tourism - no hotels, no sewage, no rubbish, no ugly cable cars, sounds like a great place to visit no? Why allow people to drink as much as they want when it causes disease, quite a lot of people get addicted, it leads to fighting and domestic violence.

Why anything?

Of course smoking stinks. It's a disgusting (but delicious) habit. So why aren't pubs, restaraunts and the public capable of sorting out where and when is acceptable for themselves?

I suppose if you don't like the public you're not going to like pubs. Or places where large numbers of people get together for a good time.
Too many loud, smelly, obnoxious, ugly people. Surely it would be better if they were *all* nice well behaved and always sensible.

You cannot compare smoking to driving cars. (And believe me I know TOOwell the dangers of cars, not least the dangerous chemicals emitted from exhausts, which is why i only ever use my car when i really need to, and I never leave the engine running when I am stationary.

At the end of the day smokers do not need to fill kids lungs with smoke to enjoy a fag.
I have been smoking 20 years, and I dont find it at all difficult to go outside and have a fag.

I love my children too much to inflict dangerous chemicals on them. And other people should think likewise.

You mention car crashes involving children. yes, sadly, they happen. But people still drive round every day with kids not wearing seatbelts, or not in proper car seats. ( proper fitted car seats up to 4 years, booster seats up to 12 years). That is taking a risk, an UNECCESSARY risk. So is smoking around them. No-one is asking you not to smoke, just not to do it around others who dont like it.

The sad thing about smokers is a lot of them are selfish.
I'm happy to say, I am a smoker, but an unselfish one.
