Virgin Skier,

I agree with one of the previous comments that the pictures flatten it out. I can assure you from experience that when you see a Black run from the bottom for the first time not only will you suddenly develop a severe case of tourettes syndrome but the bottom will drop from your pants!! Have fun and enjoy watching other beginners making fools and injuries of themselves in the belief that they can get down it after only a few days skiing.

re: Tomba for Beginer?

Thanks for the great photo link agree with thinking about black run but there is no stoping some! If you are going to try it make sure you take it nice and steady with a party of at least 4 with best skier at number 1 and 4 and you should be ok...
Have fun!!

re: Tomba for Beginer?

Those were my pictures taken at Christmas. The best view of Tomba is from the 1st floor of the restaurant at the bottom through the window. It just goes up and up and up and up...... It looks about half as steep as it is on the photos I took.

I would love to know why that happens with pictures.

re: Tomba for Beginer?

Take a look at the following photo - I am sure you will agree that the Tomba run in Bansko is not suitable for beginners!!

re: Tomba for Beginer?

Great pics Dave. I'm a timid intermediate and the Tomba was my first ever black run (I didn't do the moguls at the top). I had some great private tuition in Bansko. I would never have contemplated doing this run as a beginner.
Shocked to hear that there was a fatality on this run.

There's plenty to keep beginners occupied without risking life and limb.
