I agree with F3z - why search out a Bulgarian ski site just to tell us what a crappy experience you had and (according to you) so will we. Everyone wants different things from holidays - albeit we all want snow for a skiing holiday .... this is something no one can control anywhere in the world. In the past I was a holiday rep who had to deal with moaning holiday makers for lack of sun in Greece, luke warm food, earthquakes, too much sand (or pebbles) on the beaches - crappy hotel (they booked a 2 star) ..... the list was endless - I can't understand why such people don't do their homework before setting off there (as you should have done before going to Bulgaria). That was a few years ago and you should have experienced the cheapness,political stance and financial status of your chosen destination - something that should have started the warning bells to sound. Crappy toilets ...... hmmmm try living in Greece for 22yrs and having to go to village weddings etc - just be thankful of a toilet and not a hole!

I hope I don't come across too many people on my holiday with your attitude - I deserve this break and I'm the kind of person who makes 'THE BEST' out of any situation! ..... come what may!

Still Pamporovo remains my favourite. Always has been, always will be.

I can ski pretty much any run so I am certainly no novice.
To me it's not all about the frills and snobbery of designer ski resorts. It about where I have the best fun and that has always, without doubt been Bulgaria.

Maybe you see Bulgaria as skiing for the working class - and maybe I would agree with that.

Oh dear, Anita you ski snob. How can you compare Italy with the resorts of Bulgaria, they are like chalk and cheese. I have been to Bansko 4 times and am returning in mid Jan. Bulgaria will never be able to offer the amount of skiing that the alpine resorts can due to the geological factors, not as many mountains. What bulgaria does is provide generally good quality skiing at a very good price, yes the food comparison with western resorts is correct but what you get in bulgaria is cheap and filling, haute cuisine it is not, that being said if you look around there are now many upmarket restaraunts opening. Just remember that bulgaria was a communist state until relatively recently and there was little investment, they appear to be tring to catch up, and in my opinion are doing, on the whole a pretty good job. On a final note Anita, perhaps you should spend some time carrying out some research of the areas you are going to visit in the future, then you will be able to understand the cultures, food etc and form an idea of what to expect before deciding on wether to visit. And before you ask I have visited many countries of the world, but always research prior to a visit.
