There cannot be sane adult in the UK who isn't aware that smoking carries a health risk. On the other hand, the anti-smoking lobby's unnecessarily brutal 'quit or die' message is so demonstrably untrue that it's no wonder that so many smokers have stopped listening.Pete

you suprice me sometimes, as a dibetic you must be aware of the high risk of heart diese ralated to your condition, you may seem as fit as a fiddle, but I have worked in the drug industry mainly in diabetic related problems, personally it would worry me.
Yes I agree its your choice to smoke and if we go to a country were its legeal put up and shut up, sit out side and take some frebreze to freshen up your clothes. didnt know it was ilegal throughout the whole of europe ...

by the way I am a non smoker and personally I think you should be able to smoke in what I class as proper pubs, it would be my choice then not to go there.

Too true.If the (so called) research is accurate you have actually knocked 27.7 years off your lifespan. Well so have I and I think its worth it. I am as fit as a fiddle and would rather have a slightly shorter, happier life than a long miserable one avoiding all of the things that are said to damage your health.
I wonder how many of the anti smoking brigade are heavy drinkers but, don't get me started on that one.

my gran never drank and never smoked, she is 85 years old but for the past 20 years she has had alzemiers and knows noone and has been in a nursing home for 15 years, do what you want enjoy youe life and hope to god you die but you end up like my gran,re: Waiting for the times when NO SMOKING in BG will be enforced in resorts and accross the country.
sorry that should say die before you end up like my gran.by the way my uncle was the same never drank never smoked hes 67 and has just gone into a nursing home with the same.

My great grandad smoked since he was 14, drank a mug of whiskey every night and retired at 95. I bet his corpse hasn't even started to decay yet. This is, however, the exception rather than the rule.Anyway, after spending time in non-smoking restaurants in France and Italy I find coming back here a bit of a challenge even though as a smoker for 12 years I do try and not be one of those holier than thou ex smokers. Will this ever happen here? Well they said it wouldn't in the UK...

Went into a pub the other day with 2 non smoking girls. Neither of them had ever smoked, but they both commented - and said they wish they'd bring back smoking in pubs, all they could smell was urine and disinfectant.And so it goes on...................
