no thats what hes saying, to be honest we went self catering last year, had toast in the appartment and that was it plus if you have kids they have there own room plus an area to lounge a round in while you get ready, the cheapest way will be to do it all your self.

We rented an apartment in Bansko this yr - we are also 5 - so hotel rooms don't really accommodate us. we rented through this site, they also did transfer & ski hire/lessons. Ours are older than yours, 15, 13 and 8 and all had a fantastic time. Your youngest would go in ski kindergarten which is at the top gondola station near to nursery slopes, the other 2 could go into different groups. I didn't even make toast or coffee in our apt as there was a lovely little restaurant ...

Hey guys !
Thanks a mill. You are really helpful and considerate to give me you time.
I have been in touch with this site and they can do a good deal in the Perelik hotel for us half board...Will I go for this or request a bed and breakfast deal only?
Thanks again

Hi Fiona
Would you reccommend Bansko or Pamps?

Pamps was very friendly and the instructers were great with kids. We stayed half board and was worth every penny, we didnt want the hassel of cooking food, buying the stuff etc. After a day on the slopes you want to chill out!

Pamps has good snowboard instructors, but you only get 3 mornings instruction in the snowboard pack. So when you are there arrange instruction for the other 3 mornings - I did it with the ski school, it was 50 lev. Although some people here recommended the Snow Shack guys, I forgot about them till too late! the possible problem if your son boards and the rest of you are in ski school all day is he is on his own for the afternoons.

My son was 13 last january, he is a good intermediate boarder now, but he knew he wasnt to go off on his own. He made friends in his group - all older guys, and went with them. Two afternoons I skied with him which he didn't like as I am not good, very slow, and he found the blue/green runs too tame for him. We met up at the end of the day and some lunchtimes. Now if your son is a beginner this may not work though you could arrange afternoon instruction for him as well. I think it would be well worth it to know he was supervised by someone competent.

We kept in touch by mobile phone - I bought Bulgarian sim cards out there, very cheap, and it was an excellent way to know where he was, etc. I made sure he always had at least 20 lev with him so he had enough money for lunch if I didn't see him.

I chose Pamps because it is a very compact, almost all the runs end up at ski station 2, and the buses run regularly back to the hotels, but it is easy to meet up. The Perelik is the first pick-up point in the morning so no hanging around, and there is plenty to amuse the kids.

You will have a great time!

Bansko has a better ski area than pamps and possibly more sutible to an intermediate, pamps is quiet limited and very good for beginers. In the evening Bansko has lots of restaurants around and is very cheap, Pamps is centered around the perilik hotel which is right in the centre, there is a lot for tenagers to do from bowling to pool based in the perilik. realy depends on what you want, as for b and b you might as well go half board dont think the price is that different, then ...

Thanks for all the help, it seems like we will ski next year after all as they adored it and to be honest it gave everyone something to do and we had some real family time together not just same noise different four walls as it often is on sun holiday!
thanks a mill
