Ali, you hit the nail on the head. I went to Bulgaria because its cheap and I'm going next year for the same reason.
I've skied in France, Germany and Austria and admit the options there are far better, but for a cheap weeks skiing Bulgaria is hard to beat.
Lots of people give various reasons for going to Bulgaria but if they were honest they would admits its because its cheap, everyone likes a bargin.
Yes. I've been to Soldeu and Eltarter (Andorra), Val disere, Tignes and La Plagne (France), Livigno (Italy) and a very cold Glenshee (Scotland) as well as 9 times in Pamparovo. Out of all of these ski trips, my time in Pamps has been the most enjoyable
I have always found the instructors very professional and the other people that I have interacted with to be friendly and polite. Yes, there are annoying things such as the taxi drivers. I dealt with that by agreeing a price before ...

I have always found the instructors very professional and the other people that I have interacted with to be friendly and polite. Yes, there are annoying things such as the taxi drivers. I dealt with that by agreeing a price before start of journey or simply not using them. I think it's fair to say that taxi's are a rip off all over the world>
I have a problem paying £200.00 + for a lift pass and £6.00 for a beer and dealing with rude arrogant people that I have come across in other european resorts. They can continue to ski in France for all I care (or take up Rock climbing as there is bugger all snow).
The food is basis but there are a number of options other than hotel food. The Italian Restaurent in the Perelik and the Red Sun Chinese restaurent to name two.
When I can ski down "the wall" as well as an instructor and feel no fear is the day when I say that Pamparovo is no longer a challange to me
I have seen many improvements in Pamps since I started skiing there and envisage many more in the very near future now that Bulgaria is part of the EU. Just hope that the prices don't go up to high.
Disagree Gogs - I am fortunate enough (and so are most of my friends) to be able to afford to go almost anywhere skiing - but I choose Bulgaria because I love it. Price has absolutely nothing to do with my decision and I would go there if it were double the price.
the simple answer is if you dont like cheap dont do cheap - I also like the 3 other holidays which going cheap on some afford me to have ( Brazil Cuba USA etc etc each year ) as well
As I bet a lot of other peolple do, the reason I for one seek out places like bulgaria ( on a side note i have had worse food in some Hiltons in england ), the instructors we have had over the ...

As I bet a lot of other peolple do, the reason I for one seek out places like bulgaria ( on a side note i have had worse food in some Hiltons in england ), the instructors we have had over the last 2 years have been fantastic ( Hristo and Rumi ) and couldnt have been more helpfull
SO any way where was i before i went off on one - ah yes -
dont expect 4 or 3 star ( UK rating ) for the money ( can i just add how poor 5 star uk is when you go over the pond )
the hotel we stayed in was most importantly clean and cheap, and was round the corner from the gondala and rila slope, the food was edible ( agh chips for breakfast lol ) so much so - which means you can live with the fact that its a country still in its infancy in terms of infrastructure.
above all the 11 of us in our party had a really good time and would go back again
sorry for the rant
just got the snow alert really pleased for the instructors, a few more weeks work for them
So good to see all those postive replies!! We are first time skiers and have chosen Borovets in the main down to price. Nowhere else came close for hotel and beginner ski package for the money we are paying. We don't know, we could go and find it's not our thing at all, but the reviews on the hotel are good and at the end of the day, we haven't spent a fortune if we end up pottering around rather than skiing. I am hoping that we all come out of it relatively competant skiiers!!
its a fantastic place for beginers in pamps the night life is fantastic, if your more experienced than bansko would possibly suit you better. Yes its cheap and yes you get what you pay for but the accommodation is better than a lot in france italy ect. People like the atmosphere and how friendly it is. although wont be going back next year going some where else same as pp is
P.P. I'm in the same position, but I like my 3-4 holidays per year, but if Austia/Switzerland was as cheap I would go there, but I'm glad a tried Bulgaria. I'm going back new year but after that I'm sure I'll be bored with it.
