Hi All,
Just to keep you updated....similarly to last year, most of the Borovets ski / board instructors will all be doing 2 weeks work on the slopes to improve them for next season. The work they are currently doing includes new drainage, moving trees, rocks etc. Bobby is working these 2 weeks and a lot of work has already been done clearing and widening Martinovi Baraki 4 (black run on the rila side) and now they have moved to George's run which they are clearing and widening. ...

There are also rumours of new cannons and some other interesting changes BUT at the moment it is simply just rumours and we know how easily they start on here.... As and when things have been confirmed we will let you know!

sounds like some progress kas as widening and clearing stones etc is always beneficial.can you share what the rumours are of the interesting changes and where snow canons are going on the understanding of course they are rumours.
rumoured 40 million euro developments over summer!!! any ideas

A little enlightment:
-All ski instructors HAVE to work for 2 weeks during the summer because of the ridiculous demands of the owner of the Borovets:-work Angaria (FOC)! so then you can have your seasonal lift pass at half price or about 900 (even at that figure for a seasonal pass that is well more expensive than most of the European ski resorts.
A lot of ski instructors which work during the summer on the beach or do something else are FORCED to arrive at Borovets and do manual labour ...

In most normal ski centers around the globe the system is this:
Listed price for seasonal lift passes is announced widely and stipulates that if you pay it before the start of season, you pay Half Price (doesn't matter working in resort ,having business in it )
That way the resort starts with Good cash flow and is hoping to improve it as the season develops.
I was gonna continue with a little more but don't see the point to point the finger and blame and shame certain people.

I think however Kas was just trying to update those that are interested in what work was being carried out in resort.
It would not suprise me in the slightest if borosports are expecting the instructors to work free for the 2 weeks, I expect they have the choice, but I get your point, its sort of blackmail??, sadly its like many things in this world and borosports probably know they can get away with ...

free labour...bargain!! here its called community service but you dont get a lift pass to go with it.....

oh dear Mr M i do apologise for being english on a predominantly english forum, and using sometihing in english called 'irony' Community service is something you get instead of a custodial sentence here, handed down by the courts.............as you so often are wont to say, you cant take everything at face value

I'm very scarred!!! Last year I borrowed a book from Bobbys Bar, and have yet to return it. As I see there will be one of two outcomes. 1. Kas will say "Thanks for bring it back and offer me a chance to buy a beer. 2. That sort of practice does mean the good ski instructors go away from Borovets (only the desperate or very local ones stay) and on their place come the very unexperienced newbies and your learning as tourists suffer big time.
