As those who saw my earlier post will know I'm looking for someone to ski with in March. However, I'm starting to turn my thoughts to whether I've got the bottle to go alone.
Chris, I have skied alone as a reasonable skier when i was younger, having had no choice when my mate broke his leg a week before we were due to go to Soll, in Austria.
I wasnt taking leassons (if you are, you will meet people and feel welcome allmost immediatley, and tell them you are alone, i am sure you will be welcomed to join them).

After a couple of hours the first evening in the bar, i had the choice of skiing with several other groups of guys i had met, all really friendly, and ended up having an excellent week. Do not be afraid to go into the bars alone and mix socially, tell people your alone and im sure as us skiers do(and boarders), we look after our own so to say!
Go on enjoy yourself!
Blimey Pat Man I only posted that a couple of mins ago! You must be the ski forum guru of the world!!!
Ian, that's just what I needed to hear. I'm not shy and have always got chatting to people in bars on previous trips. I suppose I knew all along the things you said and the way it will go and i've even had a kind offer from Daniel Snell (poster on this site) to hook up with his group. Still hope I can find someone to go with but I'm pretty sure that I'll go on my lonesome if needs must!
i might - if i was taking lessons - when we were there last year everybody in our group was really friendly. evenings wouldnt be a prob - again really friendly place.
Yeah, evenings don't bother me - i'm more worried about the prospect of skiing alone for a week. I've only been twice so may even go down the lessons route?
As I said Chris, if i was at the bar drinking with mates, and i got chatting with someone who was alone, i would have no hessitation in saying come along with us, after a few beers, you all get a laugh and its good to get to know new people, skiing holls are part of that, not just saying see you tommorow here the same time, but saying meet you outside so and so to ski so and so etc!
Go for it mate!

Thats not me saying hang around the kids ski schools in the morning, seeing which single women are there, but its an option!
