re: Yanakiev

Hi ,
We stayed at the Yanakiev Feb half term last year and had a fab time. The hotel is lovely, clean and food ok although we did eat out several nights to experience the local crusine! We had an apartment last year and it was fantastic , it was so big , clean , huge bed ,massive bathroom and even a kitchen. It is situated right on a nursery slope and close to town. We are going back to this hotel on Feb 12th so look forward to seeing you Cheryl.
Rachael. Very Happy

Hi Nige
JUst got back from The Yanakiev Hotel yesterday. You'll have a great time. Hotel is clean, modern, nice rooms (no kettle if you need your cuppa -take your own), good views
Friendly staff(language barrier was a problem sometimes).takes 5 minutes to walk to town, 8 minutes or so to main gondola.Nice hot choc. our fussy kids foundplenty to eat at each meal, lots of choice so they didn`t leave hungry. (always chips and toast if nothing else). had some lovely meat/sausages/salads. quiet ...

re: Yanakiev

Hi Cheryl,

I was wondering how you were getting on,
It sounds just how I envisaged, Thank you so much for taking the time for your feedback.
It sounds like you have had some good skiing too Very Happy according to the reports Cool.
My Daughter is extremely pleased about the Hot Choc Razz and the food situation is a relief as alot of people on here have said the food is cold generally, but I guess they are not staying at the best hotel in town eh?
Wink

A couple of things I was wondering about if you can tell me, Is it easy to navigate to the yastrabets slopes by ski or do you have to catch a bus or walk or...? Confused I just cant work it out Confused
Thanks again Cheryl, glad you had a good time and it was great to here from you.

Hi Nige,
Cheryl is an expert on the Hotel as she hurt her leg on the 1st day and spent quite a lot of time in there! As for the slopes for the more experienced skier take the gondola to the top. From there you can ski down in several directions. To the right you can ski to the bottom and then take a chair lift back up most of the way. Or you can ski down to the mid point of the Gondola and catch that back up to the top. If you ski back down to the Rila there is a way back up to the top, ...

If you ski back down to the Rila there is a way back up to the top, but it is time consuming along green routes to the bottom of the Gondola and back up. I only used the Gondola, but some people did take taxis up to the Yestrabets and then ski from there, I think they then take the Chair lift from the bottom right, back up. You would be best off going up and staying on the top slopes, only going as low as the mid point Gondola.
Hope the snow stays good for you and have fun...Cheryl's hubby.
