Hi All!
OK, this may have been done before, but I couldn't find it...
Would you like to share your best tips on what to take? I'm talking about things that may not be obvious...
The basics we all know I assume:
- ski gear, ski suit / jacket / ski trousers, gloves, goggles, sunglasses, hat, scarf / neck gaiter
- thermal underwear, fleeces, thick socks, thin socks
- toiletries
- normal clothes for apreski, including warm jacket (don't count on your skiing jacket), jeans (accepted everywhere)
- good walking boots that are waterproof
- passports, tickets, reservation confirmation / other necessary paperwork
Things that may not be obvious:
- sunscreen
- lip balm with SPF
- swimsuit and flip-flops - even if your hotel doesn't have a pool you can still go to another that has
- retractable lift pass holder
- 2 way radios / long range walkie talkies, as an alternative to mobile phones
- water bottle - you will get thirsty on the slopes, even if you don't notice it
- bum bag / money belt
- camera
- condoms (some would put this under basics I know)
What else can't you go without? Any tips appreciated.
Last year we i took a mini dvd player and will be taking one again this wear.
Was brilliant for the couple off odd nights i had where i was too knackered from skiing to go out and just layed in bed and watched a movie or two which ya can buy in resort for peanuts.
I would say a hip flask with ya favourite tipple is also an essential.
take a neck warmer thingi! one of those hat/scarfs with the drawstring. no idea what it is called but was by far the best thing i took!
and something to line your backpack if its not already waterproofed, just a decent carrierbag does the job
Very usefull info, we are a family of 3. 2, 1st timers going to Pamps 18th Feb.
Wifey has done 3 days sking 6 yrs ago and has bought light weight Jackets, recons we will be too hot, should i insist we get heavy duty clobber?
Also are goggles essential for learning?
The neck gaiter tips is really usefull, not thought of that.
