Andrew,

I'm not sure what you consider light-weight, also what other layers you will be wearing underneath. I guess if you are wearing a thermal base layer, a medium-weight long-sleeved top, a fleece AND a light-weight jacket, you will be all right. I assume the jacket is at least lined and waterproof??

Of course, it all depends on the weather and how much you will be moving. If you are a beginner you will be quite slow and actually in my experience you'll be surprised how little ...

Of course, it all depends on the weather and how much you will be moving. If you are a beginner you will be quite slow and actually in my experience you'll be surprised how little you'll be moving around to begin with.

I don't know if this helps. I personally wear a thermal t-shirt, long-sleeved wool mix turtle-neck, a wool jumper or a light fleece top and a skiing jacket on top, thermal bottoms and skiing pants. I take off the jumper if hot.

The advice people generally give is: wear several layers so you can take them off if hot, and stay away from cotton as it looses it's insulating properties when wet (from sweat or snow).

Goggles again will depend on the weather. If it's snowing heavily you will need goggles even if a beginner, otherwise not. Take sunglasses though, even if it's not sunny you get a lot of glare from the snow. Pamporovo tends to get a lot more sun than Bansko and Borovets (statistically) and last time I was there we had beautiful sunny blue skies most days and a couple of days of heavy snowfall when I needed my goggles. Going again on 11 Feb leaving 18th, can't wait Very Happy

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Dani

If you only have lightweight jackets (I assume you meant warmth - not physical weight) then a good thermal base layer and a good fleece should cover you for most days, if not there are loads of clothes shops in the resorts to sort yourselves with.
Goggles are nice as they keep your face warm!
Good UV!!! sunglasses will do the job too though, but make sure they are strong UV protector type.

if its snowing goggles work better than sun glasses. when I was out there a few weeks ago if the sun was out I was sking in just a teeshirt as I was so hot but if its coudy and no sun you need a good jacket although I wore only a tee shirt and pants under my ski gear and usually has the vents open, if your not sure layer then you can strip down as for thermals I know a lot of realy experienced skiers and they only ever where there thermals in canda or lapland

We were beginners last year and we wore thermal leggings and polo with crew neck jumper over the top.
Scarf or neck tube very useful if it windy or snowing.Ski gloves are a must as well.
Good quality heavy salopettes and jacket essential as a beginner although yo get warm at times it can be quite cold if there is any wind and there is quiet a lot of standing around waiting you turn to do the excercise and waiting for slower members of your group.

Dress very warm on the first day and adjust your layers as the week goes on.
Dont forget as a beginner you may do as lot of falling over the first few days so important that outer layer is waterproof.
We mostly wore sun glasses usually perched on top of the head held in place by elastic thing! ( didnt want to miss the beauty of the landscaoe) However goggles were great the day it was windy and snowy.

Hope this is useful.

Your Best Tips - What To Bring For Skiing

I would highly recommend that you bring some type of tummy bug medication because a lot of people suffer from an upset stomach over the course of the week brought on by the change in food and all the boozing.

Another useful thing is earplugs as the flights can be fairly early and they allow you get some sleep so that you are ready to go when you arrive. In addition, your room could be quite noisy depending on its location in the hotel - most hotels have nightclubs in them which carry on ...

In addition, your room could be quite noisy depending on its location in the hotel - most hotels have nightclubs in them which carry on until 5 or 6 in the morning.

I was suprised how cold it was in Pamporovo in comparison with Andorra or Norway - about -12 at the hotel -16 on the mountain so it is well worth bringing a few sweaters or hoodies to wear under your jacket.

The currency exchange rates in Pamporovo were much better than what you get on the high street at home so don't change loads of money before you go. Bring Sterling or Euro and change it there commission free for a much better rate.

Finally, enjoy your holiday!!
