Your Worst Ever Fall

So come on then tells us about it Razz

Mine was in Andorra on a slope that was closed.

Mr. Clever Dick (me) thought it looked OK so off I went.
After 50 yds and the point of no return I realised it was black and just sheet ice. I fell, (like you do on sheet ice closed black runs) and just kept going and going and going.

It felt like an hour of tumbling but it must have lasted about 90 seconds. I eventually crashed into some orange netting, skis kept going past me, 1 broken pole and ...

My friends -- standing at the top of the run laughing their heads off.

The moral of this story is:- if they say it's closed -- BELIEVE THEM Confused

re: Your Worst Ever Fall

Dry slop, October 30th 2006 (my birthday), trying to go as fast as i could, caught a ski and came tumbling down on one knee, took off most the skin off my left knee (through my jeans), swelled up about 3 times the size and still have very little feeling in my knee cap...
Thank god snow (and even rocks) are softer to fall on. Luckily it didn't cause me any trouble whilst skiing Borovets last few weeks...!!
I'll be more respectful next time! Confused

Ski touring near Whistler, Canada - 45-50degree slope and lost it, after 1000ft vertical "tumble" skied away with only a cracked sternum a few bruises, oh and the zip was ripped off my jacket.

Rather lucky!

re: Your Worst Ever Fall

Mine was first time skiing in Tonale, Italy. Hurtling down a slope, out of control, hit ice, fell and ripped all the ligaments off my knee (ouch), Consulatant told me never to ski again but I had done enough to want to go back. Been 10 times now, might be slow but I'm in control. Very Happy

re: Your Worst Ever Fall

Skiing in Aviemore Scotland on a dull day in dark sun glasses and too much Vodka-Redbull inside to care and hit a very large rock hidden under thin snow, when my pals got their breath back from laughing they said it looked like a cartoon stunt! I was a dart on skiis. They were very impressed, i didn't feel a thing thanks to the Vodka-RedBull!! The moral of this story, keep the hip flask near by!
