Just back from Borovets, where we used both yellow taxis and the horse drawn variety. All were fine, and all charged the same amount - 10 levs - for the journey to our (out of town) hotel, even one which was after midnight.
Just got back from Bansko too and the taxi drivers we used were fine although they did charge double the price after midnight. Lots of other rip off merchants out there though unfortunately - the prices in some of the mountain restaurants were stupid for what you got and in Sofia arport I paid 36 lev for 2 bags of crisps three cokes and a packet of sweets. Sorry Bulgaria but you are getting greedy my week cost £3200 in all for a family of four and I wont be returning!
i live in Bulgaria with 5 children and 4 adults, we eat out on a regular basis, go carting, iceskating, skiing, bowling, swimming run a vehicle and travel from Sofia to Pamporovo weekly and we do not spend that in three months. I can not see how you got through such a large sum of money, did you to to the casino?
Thought Angie and I were mad, spending about £1,200 in a week. That included treating everybody to a drnk on the meet night and new boots for Angie. £3,200 sounds impossible
never the less unless he was ripped of by paying too much for his holiday, i can not see how a normal holiday in Bulgaria could cost so much unless:
lost at casino
purchased designer goods
went mad shopping
i would love to see the holiday spend itinary on this one
I had a great week in January and still only cost £720 total with ski hire lessons etc...
Do the math guy's there are 4 of them and to be fair soft drinks for kids cost more than beer,i bet a fanily of 4 could easy spend £50 a day just for lunch. If you go to the wrong places and pay the wrong taxis then yes i can see how a family would spend that amount...The costs for my holiday were....
£245 holiday
£175 ski hire lessons etc
£300 spend money
