re: balkan flights

Hi Rick,
Balkan flights are ok.
The aircrafts are a bit old and tatty but its amazing what you come do with a bit of gaffer tape here and there! Very Happy Very Happy - only joking.
Dont panic about the flight, remember the pilot wants to get there in one piece as well.

re: balkan flights

I went to Sunny Beach last year with Balkan and still here to tell the tale.

To be honest, if you manage to get a seat, you should be OK - worst thing I found was people cooking in the aisles, to me a definite fire risk, best taking sarnies, enough for everyone to be sure Razz

Rick. Hope you are in for a bit of leg pulling here - cos they're a merciless lot here.

Yes, the planes have seen a few miles - but they wouldn't be flying if they were not safe. I've flown to Bulgaria twice with them - they are not the Ritz - but they WILL get you there.

Rick

Dont worry about the flight with Balkan! I flew with them last year, they do look a bit ropey but they are a good strong plane and if you get a Tupelov 154, they have three engines! BONUS!!

I use to be scared of flying but have had hypnotherapy, suggest you give it a try, in the meantime pop to the quack and ask for a box of 10mg Diazepan! Take a couple of them 10 mins before you fly and this will do the trick!

have a good flight

re: balkan flights

The 154 is a fine aircraft with a very good record.
They're not the most sophisticated, but then the brand new Airbus A330 crashed becuase the computers took over from the pilots and they couldn't work out what was happening.

As it happens, in the vast majority of accidents the cause has been human error (eg air traffic control errors, pilot errors), nothing to do with mechanical failure - just as in most road accidents really.
Concentrate on the skiing and drinking which at least you ...

Concentrate on the skiing and drinking which at least you can improve at with practice, not much sense in spending all that energy worrying is there?

Very Happy made me laugh lots... I especially like the overhead luggage compartments that wobble lots on landing

re: balkan flights

Don't be such a girly... I did however always wonder why the air hostesses wore so much make up... I think it may be a mask to hide the look of sheer terror every time the ageing lump of metal plummets to the runway for landing!
