re: balkan holidays aircraft

This one comes up every season, On the two balkan trips I've done (1 from gatwick and one from manchester) the planes have being 737s.
Remember all planes the fly into british aero space have to conform to the same standards as the uk operators.

With EU entry Jan 2007 Tupolev will not be welcome. BH Air already have 3 Airbuses, but used to lease them out in the winter coz their aircraft usage is low. Last winter they parked the 3 tupolevs in Plovdiv, but they flew only Sat/Sun. They used one airbus as well. This winter I guess the fleet of Airbus will be used to/from Plovdiv.

Last Xmas we flew from Gatwick to Plovdiv on a TU154 but the return flight was on an Airbus.

Just remember no matter plane you fly on, the take off is optional but the landing is mandatory.

Its not just the planes you'll miss Gill- don't forget the Balkans tour reps are the best ever!

We had a 12 hour delay last year due to a fault on a TU-154. waited all day for a new plane to turn up, and when we called back out the murmur on the bus was 'at least we won't we have to get back on that museum piece'. needless to say some people were put out when we were taken back out to ---- another TU-154. same cabin crew as well, bless 'em!

The thing is that these TU154s are already ...

The thing is that these TU154s are already paid for, and so don't have the same costs, even though they guzzle fuel, and are loud, they have no monthly finance costs to pay. the Airbuses are on a contractual lease and will probably not be used until they absolutely have to be, i.e. in 2007 as Peter said. Inthe meantime, BHA sub-lease them to save money.

The maintenance team is based in Bourgas and in Varna, and also the staff are based there ie Stewardesses an Pilots.

It is not a matter of money, it is just that this were the hub is.
