bansko conditions

i am here in Bansko now, skied the last 3 days.

ok first everything is not open. only one of the blue plateaus is open and the far left lift , down to the road to tthe mid gonola is not working, so the rruns to tthee are closed.

First thing, early i mean,, the pistes are good, but there are lots of people here and they get very cut up leaing piles of snow and patches of ice.

The learning areas are good , by the gonda it is busy though and i would advise any beginners to try the Valin chalog drag lift run. There are very few people there and the snow is good. They will take you down on the lift from the mid gondala station if the ski road is too difficult for you.

Hello Dave,

To be honest I'm shocked by your report!!

Going by the link below, I would think you were in a different resort?

re: bansko conditions

some of those claimed as open, are not really, and as for an average of 100 cm i suppose there might be if some of the rocks are a meter high. you can see the grass in places too.

I do not mind icy if the piste is all icy, it is just yyou are skiing on snow then ice then a pile of snow. I know who i think is guilty but lets not start that thread here.

I was upset, because it is not good conditions to improve your sstyle, it is survival. I gave up at 12.00 today, I am here for a couple ...

It depends how good you are and if you hire skiis, if they were not my skiis i would not mind hitting a few rocks.

For beginners it is perfect on their runs, but once you go to the blue runs, not so good. Tomba and Chalin valog are in good condition, but i think that is because they are not skied so much.

The snow cannons are working, but it needs more snow

I'm an intermediate skiier, all our party are so we'll be looking at reds and into blacks. Looking to improve our parallel techniques...

Is there any hope? Our boots are ours but we will be using hired skis

re: bansko conditions

Hi guys this is from yesterday on a different site....

Yesterday was a great day with 10 cm of fresh snow ontop ofthe well compacted base.

All runs are open except Red 12 which needs some love and attention. With the opening of the secret lift yesterday all lifts are now open.

They have worked hard this season in creating a good base cover with cannons and the skiing is fantastic. Not yet enough snow for many off piste areas but there is still some fun to be had if you know where to ...

They have worked hard this season in creating a good base cover with cannons and the skiing is fantastic. Not yet enough snow for many off piste areas but there is still some fun to be had if you know where to go .

If you are new to resort I suggest you hire one of the locals to show you around for a day or 2 so that you maximise the benefits of the resort. These can be paid in beer and food lol

There is quite alot of snow in the town and walking can be a bit difficult at times so I suggest good boots with good tread and avoid the Rakia.

The top lifts can get very cold and I would suggest something to cover your face up there.

re: bansko conditions

I am telling the truth, It was a lot better today, I did not realise last week was a greek national holiday. It was not very busy today Monday and the pistes held up well.

The blues were brilliant first thing, All the lifts are running now, But the pistes are bad on the runs down to the far left lift on the map.

All the others were good today, they have had the snow machines working.
