cheers to all. I thought as much. I will hold on to it and try and use it and then let my kids fight over it after they've planted me...

Good luck to you mate ,

I was in Bansko 2 years ago , and almost bought a place myself. Was there in March . I think it will be a struggle
for a few years - but hopefully if they get a new gondola
and finnish all the building will be ok.

Bansko is being heavly advertised in Greece and has resulted in many Greeks buying there. 3/4 of Bulgarias banks and telecoms services are now Greek owned.

The credit crunch hasnt hit Greece in the slightest so this gives them the space to invest abroad.

i would leave your property for a few more years.

if you buy in another country its there capital gains tax you pay, not the UK. Also look into inheritence laws as well as they differ big time. Italy is the best bet for that no inhertence tax at all.

Hi

We've bought in Phoenix II, deposit down in November 2005 and it still isn't finished. Lots of problems but hey, we have found a GREAT Managing Agent and I can't recommend him highly enough. Hi

We've bought in Phoenix II, deposit down in November 2005 and it still isn't finished. Lots of problems but hey, we have found a GREAT Managing Agent and I can't recommend him highly enough. Martin Netov of Backup. [email protected] Doesn't charge a fortune and is a great guy. He is helping us with our problems and we are slowly getting there. If you need furniture I agree, DON'T go to Orpheus - I did and quite honestly they have ripped me off big time. Hard and expensive lesson to learn.

I can recommend Furniture Box - they have a shop in Bansko near the Kempinski and are on the web. They will definitely NOT rip you off and are extremely helpful. They are aiming to deliver in one week and have great furniture. I bought all my "bits and pieces" from them. Eddie Raphael is one of the directors, again, extremely helpful and a nice guy.

We are going to hold on to our apartment - the new lift has just got the official go ahead so hopefully things will get better. Our son will love it.

I would love to hear from anyone else who has bought in Phoenix II - if you have, don't sign the Maintenance Agreement!!!

re: bansko generally

Sam,

You can be still liable for UK CGT if you live in the UK and you sell a property abroad, whether you bring the money into the uk or not. You pay the Tax in the country you sell in and claim this back when you pay the UK tax.

You can read about it here
