I er sort of got in and up late on day 1 and got to the gondola at 10 o' clock. Missed all the chaos which occurs on day 1 and there were no queues at the bottom at all. We got to the top and were promptly tested by a ski instructor. Had only just put my skis on and was sidetracked to the beginners group and pointed in the direction of the button lift which by then had a 20 minute queue.By now it was about 11.30 We looked at the other empty lifts and knowing that we had to meet our daughters ...

We had a great time.
It will always be a bit chaotic on day 1 so keep calm and ride it out it will be worth it in the end.

Last year wasn't so bad but we had very little natural snow, this year the snow was great for christmas and new year so consequently more bulgarians/greeks came to the resort and I suspect some were last minute bookings.

Hi Dave,
Last year wasn't so bad but we had very little natural snow, this year the snow was great for christmas and new year so consequently more bulgarians/greeks came to the resort and I suspect some were last minute bookings.
It's a holiday period for many nationalities so it's going to be much busier than the rest of the season.
It gets busy most weekends especially if we have fresh snow and the other really busy time is 3rd march which is liberation day, this was the only real problem with queuing for the gondola last year.
My advice is if you have to come in the busy periods is to aim for first lifts at 8.30am, the queue for the gondola moves very quickly, but some queuing is inevitable when tourist numbers are high
The next test will be feb half term week but this is not a local holiday period and last year was not really that busy
