If you drove up the mountain in April, I doubt you would have driven up the ski road. There is another road that takes you to the top station of the gondola.
the road i drove up is presumably there to take supplies up to the top gondala station. It was a proper road that zigzaged up the side of the mountain. there seemed to be a ski run that had been cut through the trees that ran close to the road. It was hard to tell if it was a run or just where the gondala went up.
Anyway I like the sound of skiing from top to bottom. All I need now is to learn to ski
Hornster - I notice you say you can ski from top to bottom if you know the way to connect the runs properly. If you know a route then could you maybe offer advice, perhaps using SKIDVD's piste map so we can have a go? It sounds like a brill thing to do.
