re: bansko

point taken , but i do not go dowwn the main road. the back cobbled lanes are full of mehanas and real bulgarians. probably why itis cheaper and the food is better.

re: bansko

I have never felt hassled in Bansko to enter a mehana. The guys on the street ask you to come into their resteraunt but are never very pushy about it unlike many other holiday resorts.Food is generally very good in the mehanas away from the main drag.

re: bansko

stayed at the lion last year. Lovely hotel, reasonable food
can walk or get mini bus to gondola Gondola had long queues over half term - outside that I hear not so bad
If you are going half term either go early 8.30 or later after 20.30
The Lion has a boot and ski store so we took ours back to save queuing at the ski hire which only opened at 8.30 then we got up on the slopes before the crowds
All in all had a brill holiday
Have tried pamps trying borovets this year
