bansko

going to bansko in feb, 1st time can't wait. Never been skiing before with the children. Taking with us a 4 yr old, 10 and 14. Has anyone got any experience of the kindergarten for the 4 yr old? really worried about it. also hows it go for taking children into pubs etc at night?

Hi Japster,

I'm in Bansko on the 2nd (3rd time in four years) staying again at the Strazhite, you'll find the pubs/restaurant ok for kids but may find the hotels bars more suitable as they tend to be little quieter and they have more room for them to run around.

Heard the creche is ok but couldn't say more than that - great place to visit and brill skiing. Going with my 13yr old son & my girlfriend & more than happy to meet up

Jamie

re: bansko

thanx sam, did you see children in bars whilst there? Don't want to look like unfit parents and be the only ones in bars with kids. Never been to Bulgaria b4 so not sure what to expect. Do you know if the kindergarten is near to the ski school where the other childern will be. Confused

re: bansko

yes the kindergarten is to the left as you get off the gondla and ski school is to the right, less than 30 seconds walk between them, yes there were kids in the bars, there are loads of mehenas as well that do fantastic food, dont know which hotel you are in but the food in most of them has had bad reports, thats why we do b and b

we didnt use the ski school but looked good they were all coming down the mountain mid week snow ploughing away, ski equipment was a night mare down side if you have gone through the tour op they usually meet you first thing to take you there which is one of the reason it so bad, everyone arrives at once, its the gondla thats a night mare if I could up load the pic of the que I would be dont know how, keep the kids close by as its a free for all, the earlier the better, after the first day ...

re: bansko

night skiing was on a sat night we arrived and left on the sat so no.

the ski schools wait for those who are late although did hear a few night mare stories, but it was a bulgairian bank hol as well so loads of locals there,

we were usually up the mountain by about 8.30 I am quiet sad and like to be one of the first on the pieste, think the gondla opens at around 8 I would rather get up and have a coffee then end up in a que, Not sure when kindergardten opens but there were def kids ...
