Mike y, no it's not the price of drinking in Bansko, but the mountain, the Kempinski hotel and being able to afford private lessons, along with the cheapest ski pass I have bought for the past 10 years, also there is a pleasant atmosphere on the slopes, unlike the teutonic Austrian alps.

THERES MORE TO BULGARIA THAN JUST THE SKI SLOPES. ITS LOVELY IN THE SUMMER.I AGRRE THAT BANSKO IS OVER DEVEOPLED AND FULL OF LAGER LOUTS, BUT BOROVETS IS STILL NICE

Hang on a minute, isn't it Borovets where people are complaining about the 'rip-off' prices, drinks being spiked, personnel belongings being stolen...nice? at least all the bad stuff about Bansko is the building site and gondola queues.

It is very quick & easy to slag a place off if you have had a bad experience, but one person hates another one likes & Bulgaria is growing in popularity not just as a cheap ski destination but as a good quality ski destination, & it will only get better. This site does receive a far amount of good reports compared to bad so Bulgaria must be doing something right. Just got back from pamps, yes prices are up from previous years, but fuel prices have more than doubled since we were there in August 2007.Slopes were great, new boarding park is up and running and everyone happy.
Only a few drunk and out of control brits and irish folk.
Never any drunk or rude Bulgarians, lovely hospitable people, thanks to Atril ski hire.
