re: dissapointing holiday

rubbish - just got back. it was dead quiet over half term - really unexpected and great for us skiers. Felt sorry for the local businesses as they all seemed a bit disappointed it was so quiet.
Only queues were on the Friday when everyone had improved sufficiently to go up the mountain. Restaurants were quiet, no probs getting my daughter into the kindergarten without booking and didn't even have to queue for my lift pass! Not like half term skiing anywhere else that I've experienced ...

(don't tell anyone though - I'd like to keep it quiet for next year!)

Bulgarians dont know what a queue is!.It is just common practice to push to the front. You will see it at bus stops. They are not quite as patient as us Brits Smile

re: dissapointing holiday

We were in Pamps last week - it was our half term and we expected it to be really busy, but it wasn't at all, which was a real bonus. The longest we ever queued for a lift was around 3 minutes - and most of the time there was no queue at all.
We skiied an extra day on Saturday - and practically had parts of the mountain to ourselves!

Well, actually you shared it will us! but it was lovely wasn't it?
It was a shame the weather was a bit off as we had my toddler with us as the kindergarten was closed. I was the one with a little one doing snow plough between my legs!

re: dissapointing holiday

Bansko is always busy and is going to be busy on a daily basis at peak times.so much flats in all directions and not enough proportionally ski runs .you have to find ways of skiing first thing in the morning or lunch time and finish early if the ski road is not good.

re: dissapointing holiday

30%less Brits this season, good part on self made hols so the supermarkets only are doing very well-traditionally the alcohol section.Locals dissapointed?-they better be with these prices.Half term in France was brilliant too-not more that 2-3 min the most waiting. Some days even eager to find some other skiers around and cheaper of course so for me is Buy,Buy! BG and Hello! Alps

re: dissapointing holiday

I have to agree with bridget, just back from bansko myself and didn't think much of it at all, people are rude, even the holiday reps and everyone just shrugs their shoulders at you and speaks about u in a different language, the whole town is like a building site and its not as cheap as everyone says it is... i would not recommend it to anyone, we stayed in Hotel Shato which was more like Fawlty towers...
