I've just come back from a week in Bansko and was pleasantly surprised after reading all the neagative reviews. Yes, the town is like a building site but we were prepared for that and once you get to the mountains they are beautiful. There is a queue for the gondola but you can avoid it - I was in ski school and if we got there at 8.30/8.45 we didnt have to queue and there was time for a coffee before the class started. There is a queue for the gondola but you can avoid it - I was in ski school and if we got there at 8.30/8.45 we didnt have to queue and there was time for a coffee before the class started. Likewise, after 11am there was no queue. You dont need to queue for the rest of the lifts once you get past the top of the gondola. The skiing itself was great and the ski school was excellent. Word of warning though - if you are having lunch on the mountain go to the bottom of red seven / blue six as the food is much better and no queues compared to the restaurant at the gondola station. Overall, I would reccomend Bansko if you are there for the skiing its great and I would imagine outside of half term week that the queues are significantly less. Also if you are looking for accomodation go for somehting that is walking distance to the gondola...
