I've not been to Boro so can't compare but there are plenty of busy places to eat and drink, loads of good places on the piste for daytime and others spread over the resort in the evening. Daks Irish pub is good for a late night drink and normally gets quite busy.
Is very good value and food/drink is of a high standard pretty much everywhere.
Transfer is around 4 hours but that would include a McD stop half way I wouldn't worry about transfer, is nothing major, McD ...

Transfer is around 4 hours but that would include a McD stop half way I wouldn't worry about transfer, is nothing major, McD breaks it up and then after that you're just climbing the mountain which is quite interesting to look out at the scenery etc.
If you do change let me know and I can give you some more pointers, it's a great little resort.
I've been to both resorts, Boro in 2011 and Pamps in 2012...
Boro is a small resort located right at the bottom of the mountain. Which means that you can practically ski to your door for most accommodation. The bars and restaurants are all located in a very small area so you can easily walk from bar to bar without a problem. There are also lots of strip clubs and the like.

Pamporovo IMO isn't really a resort, it's just a road with few hotels located either side. On which are a couple of supermarkets, pubs and hotels. When we went it was March and late in the season, but there was about 4 bars to go into, the busiest ones that year were Daks and Spider, which are located in hotels. There were not any strip clubs in 2012.
The advantage of Boro is primarily the ski to your door experience. Also, if you're into meeting crazy characters, there are plenty of them in Boro too. The transfer is a reasonable length. We were given the option of spending the day in Sofia on our last day in Boro, which was cool too. I guess that depends on your flight time.
The Pamporovo transfer was horrible. 4 hours drive from the airport, late at night (we got to resort about 4am). With the trip to the airport, the wait for the flight, the flight, the baggage wait, you're talking about a 10-12 hour haul to go to a European resort. It seems madness.
That said, when you get to the slopes, Pamporovo is better. And even though there aren't as many bars and restaurants to choose from, the Gloria Mar in Pamporovo blows anything in Boro out of the water for quality. Most of the 'shack' type restaurants in both resorts are pretty poor quality IMO. But when I went to Boro, there wasn't really an option of anything better.
Overall I think Boro is better for the resort environment / nightlife, but there's not a huge amount in it. The ski is better in Pamprovo if you can tolerate the transfer, and there's still lively places to go during the evening that are busy until 3-4am.
Out of intrest do you mind me asking how much you paid for your transfers (if not in a package.) its the main think putting me off transferring from Boro
Thanks for the replies our first ski holiday was last year so we are only beginners so from that point of view should we stay in boro or transfer, really dont know what to do
Reviews would make it sound that Pamps has a lot better snow cover currently but you really need to do your own research. I'm not out there so wouldn't like to say for certain. What I will say is that nowhere in BG looks like having any more snow in the foreseeable future, although obviously these things can change. Basically the longer the rain keeps falling in The UK the longer it will be warm in BG as it's the same weather system piling across the Atlantic which is causing the problem.
Looking at the webcams and reading some of the reviews it seems to me that the conditions at Borovets are about as bad as they could be. If you are going to ski / board chase the snow where ever it may be. If I were you I would ditch Bulgaria all together and find a deal in France. There are loads of good deals on line.
If you are happy to ski / board very limited slopes that are going to be overcrowded and are happy to spend your time doing other things then stick with it. Borovets is a ...

If you are happy to ski / board very limited slopes that are going to be overcrowded and are happy to spend your time doing other things then stick with it. Borovets is a great resort. I have been lucky the few times I have been due to the conditions being awesome each time.
Good luck. I have everything crossed for you but I have to say I think this season at Boro may as well be written off.
