"Looking at the webcams and reading some of the reviews it seems to me that the conditions at Borovets are about as bad as they could be. If you are going to ski / board chase the snow where ever it may be. If I were you I would ditch Bulgaria all together and find a deal in France. There are loads of good deals on line.

If you are happy to ski / board very limited slopes that are going to be overcrowded and are happy to spend your time doing other things then stick with it. Borovets is a great resort. I have been lucky the few times I have been due to the conditions being awesome each time.

Good luck. I have everything crossed for you but I have to say I think this season at Boro may as well be written off."
Do you work for the French tourist board? Wink

Hi Nichola.

This is a difficult one but I'll try to give my best advice. Not been to Pamps but my understanding from reading lots of posts / piste maps etc, is its a much more learner friendly resort. Boro with conditions as they are right now, has a very big step for learners. Beginner slopes in front of Rila, then the slightly more sloping Rotata run over to the right, then its on to the runs that finish on steep reds in front of the Rila.

The top section of these is nice and easy and good experience but unless you want to take skis off and walk the path for 200yds, its down those reds I'm afraid.

Yastrebets are pretty much the same in terms of steepness, but are much longer. Yastrabets runs are better in that the snow hold ups much better and they are generally not so crowded (bar weekends real problem again atm), they are nice and wide which makes them easier work.

I love Boro for the town and cant compare this aspect. I'm sure Pamps is lovely and there are some diehard fans on this forum returning every year. If you have an option to change then its down to the additional cost / tx time. I think its probs better option for skiing at your stage. One big dump could change it all and release the intermediate slopes, but I can't see this coming sorry

Not sure if I've helped really?

Regards Danny (from Sunny Baglan)

re:do we change and go to pamps

Looking at Joffs report and the webcams it looks like pamps snow is fine and a bit more forecast for Thursday. I've been to both resorts and for beginners skiing Pamps is far better. Depending where you stay you can ski to hotel if at mid station Studenets or at the castle but a shuttle bus if staying in the base resort

re:do we change and go to pamps

I am currently in Pamps and all but 2 runs are open. You can ski safely until mid afternoon.
Speaking to the Pamps Piste management team apparently they really blasted the snow making equipment early in the season to form a good base where some of the other resorts held back, mainly to save money hoping for the 'natural' stuff which didn't happen.

Temps are high at the moment by midday and there is no change forcast for much of next week. The bonus is clear blue skies daily.

Seems Pamps investment in snow making equipment and not being afraid to spent a few Lev running them has saved their season. There are many stories floating around here of people driving over from some of the other BG resorts to ski in Pamporovo and they all cant be wrong!

I am flying back to UK today, but will be returning next Tuesday and hope I will bring back the snow with me to all the BG Resorts.

Best of luck to everyone travelling out good luck and keep safe.

Jody

Why ditch Bulgaria altogether? Pamporovo is dong great so I wouldn't tar all resorts the same Smile

Perfect for beginners I reckon.

Nicola
Yas runs are red runs and since you have only skied once (and not knowing how good you are) I would say transfer or cancel if you can. I too am out on 22nd and If I could I would cancel the holiday but I would now lose all my money Sad

Thisk Hunt,

It may look like that HA HA! I love Boro and have skied there loads of times. I got caught in the I don't want to go anywhere else trap. The conditions this year forced me to cancel and go to Morillon1100 in France. It was amazing and the deal worked out cheaper than going to Boro!

Boro does have it all but some of the reports re people outside bars being abusive, Alleged Cocaine overdoses and shockingly bad conditions have caused the resort a lot of damage.

I will return but on a last minute when the snow has arrived but I am now on my quest to chase the perfect powder where ever it may be.

I hope the snow comes for all in Boro now and due to go out

Very Happy Very Happy
